Anyone heard about uniforms for this year? Are we going to see multiple looks like Baylor uses?

I'm hoping for the black unis with the shiny gold helmets as an option...

I just want the Red uniforms back or go with a charcoal gray uniform tops and bottoms with dark blue lettering and gold/red outline. Graphite gray helms.

I like all of that uniform changes in college football and really don't worry too much about tradition. That being said, I love the red jersey and gold pants look. It may be because we won a lot of games in that uniform but I like that look too.

Simple and classic look. Incorporate the "red jersey" only for the Homecoming game, white jersey for road games (royal blue replacing the white letters, numbers, and sleeve stripes).

Ditch the white, metallic, baby blue, royal blue, bright yellow, and other gimmick helmets. The matching throwback helmet for the red jersey makes sense, or do the entire throwback uniform. The old gold helmet should be a staple of TU football.

Which college football programs immediately come to mind when you think of old gold helmets? Most would probably say, Notre Dame, Boston College, Army, Navy, and other may say Purdue, and UCLA as well. My point is not many programs have stuck to the classy old gold look for a long period of time, and for decades the old gold helmet was a staple of TU football. Why join the masses with a schizophrenic look? Nothing is more unique than being part of a select few.

The school nickname is Golden Hurricane, and lately there's been nothing gold about the uniforms. Most schools are changing their look every week, most are very obnoxious. I think it would be great image and pride builder to stay consistent and true to the understated traditional look.

Before anyone brings up the, "player look faster in metallic, matte, or tricked up uniforms" argument. I say BS, give me stealth! Having a classic look may not catch the opponents attention, but that's good, If the opponent is constantly checking out your shiny duds, he's constantly paying attention to you. o_O

I've also heard the argument about recruits dig these obnoxious uniform schemes. They may dig the looks, but if a recruit solely choose a program because of their uniform, is that someone we want representing the University of Tulsa?

Nothing Gold about the uniforms? With the exception of a one game blue helmet with yellow uniforms and one game with the "hounds tooth" blue helmets and blue helmets for one year with Burns Tulsa has had gold helmets the entire time I have been a fan. They had baby blue in the late 80's but 80's fashion was a disaster for everyone.

I know I am going to get flamed for this but we are not a tradition rich program. We had some good years in the 60's and in the 80's but to try to compare us to the traditions of Notre Dame, Boston College or even Navy is silly. Let the kids decide. They are the ones getting the hell beat out of them week in and week out while we are sitting in the stands complaining about no beer and uniforms.

THIS should be TU's uniform. I would even replicate the stripes on the sleeves. Gold helment, blue face mask, gold pants.....Classic.

My issue with all of this continues to be that I have doubts that the student athletes [now known as kids] pick the uniforms. Does anyone truly believe that the young men get to talk to several uniform companies, view all the options, and pick the uniforms by secret ballot?

I think much more likely the coaches talk to a couple of salesmen and pick two or three and the players can have a say about which of those are purchased if they are even on campus when the decision is made. I would be amazed if they are not already on order. I'm sure the coaches take into consideration what they think the players want.

This will be my last comment on the yearly argument. The team looked bad last year and it had nothing to do with uniforms. Florida State looked better. Whatever the staff [the real deciders] picks will be fine if we win and bad if we lose.

White on white & white shoes w pink shoelaces for cancer. U know it's the offseason when... no hot recruiting news is coming out, and this thread is all the excitement found on the football board. Thank god summer practice is just around the corner.

THIS! It is a big deal to the recruits AND the players.

DoorMan, please compile a list of a players, recruits, and potential recruits. For each please list the color or colors they prefer, logos and their location, stripes, symbols that they would like to see, etc. For potential recruits show if they are serious about TU and exactly how important the uniforms are to that person. Compare academics, facilities, and coaching staff in importance to the appearance of uniforms and provide a method to determine relative value of each.

Since this is a big deal, your effort will be worth the time you put in.

Leather helmets and shoulder pads. Long sleeved rugby style shirts. No face mask. And pants that tie with a string.

I have officially changed my mind on the issue of Dress-Up Barbie football uniforms..

We should look at this like a NASCAR team.. new paint scheme.. more opportunities to sell die cast replicas, t-shirts, hats etc... Lets really break tradition in College Football and start selling ADVERITISEMENTS on our pants/Jerseys and Helmets... think about the revenue potential when every time our QB is knocked on his A$$ because his O-Line came to school for the uniforms rather than the football.... we will make money because the cameras will zoom in on the TACO BELL Logo on his helmet... We could sell Casino Ads... With the new Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville going in on the River... its the perfect tie in... "Trying to Reason with Golden Hurricane Season... stop in to M'Ville for a "Woman to Blame! Margarita" " ....

It's their first year.

I would suggest they keep the iconic gold helmet but that's not my call.

Other than that, win the conference and they can wear whatever. Dress like clowns and play like clowns? Give them the hook: quickly.
