Not sure. He’s 6’6 230 and played in a running offense in HS. At the presser they asked Beckton if he might play OT and he said something like “I’m a team player, but really like him as a TE”.

that would explain the offer from Mickey to the TE committed to Cincy. If they can get him then grow Androff into an OT. He has the frame for it then. Brett B. when he was at Wisconsin used to do that all of the time at WI and lot of those guys made it to the NFL.

Nothing wrong with a good old fashioned blocking tight end. As defenses are getting smaller and faster to adjust to the spread, it's no longer just the Patriots, Steelers and Andy Reid who are going unbalanced line, playing their third tackle as a TE and using a fullback. It's becoming pretty common in the NFL.

Frost is more of an empty set and use only five linemen kind of a guy (and get killed by the pass rush). But maybe Mr. Whipple can talk some sense into him?

I doubt that is the reason. Mickey visited this TE the day after he got the Nebraska WR job. He probably wanted him at LSU but got told no or something like that.

I suspect that we're going to make Boerkircher's move to OT a permanent one. He had been in the 2 deep at TE but I think also appeared in the 2 deep at OT at one point. He's a good athlete and could play some OT for us. No doubt there is some rebalancing of the roster going on with the offensive roster. We've lost several scholarship RBs to the portal and I suspect that Whipple wants to allocate one of those spots to a TE instead.

I probably tend to get too caught up in the numbers and scholarship distribution stuff. This might just be a case of the staff thinking this kid is special and needing to take him and they will figure the rest out later.
