New Statement from UK

That isn't what the statement says. It says UK has concluded that current UK players and coaches are not implicated. That is great news, and means Knox will continue to play. It doesn't address Nerlens and Bam, although I personally believe UK will eventually be absolved in those matters as well. The big unresolved questions will be what ultimately happens to the schools and coaches who actually had their hands in the cookie jar and got caught by the FBI wiretaps. We already know this thing involves UL, Auburn, Arizona, Southern Cal. That won't be the end of it. This will be a slow meltdown, but we will get some clues along the way as current players get held out of competition and newly signed prospects are let out of their scholarships. These things are inevitable now.

You guys are crazy if you think Forde and Thamel are holding onto a bombshell. You put your story out there ASAP so some competitor doesn't scoop you.

Now will more info come out as they continue to investigate is the question.
Exactly! News is all about speed. First to print wins. Its about credit. No matter what happens after it will be because he broke the story

Not only a license, really big, powerful boats and they know how to drive ‘em.

You ought to meet some of the FBI before giving them God like status. Some are top notch but some, not so much. Several agencies are too politicized to even do what they once did.

Hey all,
First time poster. I want to start by saying I have been reading here for a while and this seems like my kind of place. Been around a few other boards and well, let's just say they all seemed to want to bash each other more than discuss UK Basketball.

Now, on with my theory on this. As far as THIS report goes, I don't think we really have anything to worry about. I have read in different places that Cal really did not like ASM. IF that is true then I can't see how there would be any wiretaps with any of the UK staff.

To me, that is what it would take to make this a VERY serious situation. Hypothetically, Cal doesn't like ASM, ASM worked to get kids to sign with Adidas schools, with UK being a Nike school, I just don't see any conversations with ASM taking place.

Knox's role is basically a moot point and for all intents and purposes so is Noel's since his supposedly had taken place after the fact. The one that even really raises an eyebrow is obviously Bam's. BUT..they have to first prove it happened, second prove that HE got the money and not somebody like Peachtree, and thirdly, connect all this to Cal. With no connection to UK then the worst we see is a season of vacated wins.

I don't want to see that happen, but in the grand scheme of things I would think we would all be happy with that over the alternative. Am I still worried? Of course, we all should be. Until the final piece of evidence has been made public, then there is no way of knowing that this kind of thing has not happened with other agents.

I want to believe, and pretty much do, that this could be all we hear about UK. I feel Cal has taken the proper steps to ensure that He and all his staff are doing business on the up and up. We are Kentucky. They have been watching. Just my two cents worth. Thanks for letting me rant lol. Look forward to talking basketball with all.

Sorry but I don't. Wife, Kids, Grandkids, and a stressful job tend to have that effect on me. Thank you though.

I didn't state it correctly but I should have stated "remember me in the future"... Be Good (I am sorry that your job is stressful. That is hard to combat.)

I’m broken hearted that they are upset. I may need a beer to celeb . . Err, get over it.

UL fans were wildin out on Facebook and Twitter when some of this news broke yesterday.

It’s funny because it’s legitimately looking like Cal (at least does his best ) to be “clean”

Who would of thought TOM “omg he’s so great!” IZZO would he drowning in sex abuse drama, paying $$$ drama etc etc.

It’s incredible

I would say that UK following up with this statement...that is almost exactly like the one Dook released yesterday...is a CYA move. Probably won't be needed but, if it is, it's out there now.
Also of note is that it only covers what has been made public about the current team (Knox) and staff.
Cal has probably met with his assistants and gotten assurances that they aren't involved beyond what has been reported (again, Knox).
He may have met with all the players too. Thus, the follow up statement.

[ /QUOTE Someone made a similar statement when deciding whether to play Derrick Rose [eligibility question] when Cal was at Memphis. It cost them dearly.
It turned out to be a bad decision for Memphis and Cal. I hope this doesn't come out same way. jmho

I'm a Michigander but have never been enamored with Izzo, I didn't dislike him but I never thought he was all that as he is portrayed to be.
I just kind of always thought of him as like the Blue Collar Coach. Boy was I wrong.
There are coaches I like and dislike for whatever reason. I am sure that is all about to change.

I used to think the same. Even so far as to say I... “respected” him ?

Coach Cal is straight as a arrow, he would not be involved with anything illegal..

Who know's what is in a man's heart but I tend to agree Cal wants to do the right thing. if you want to, you can usually do the right thing.

Agree. Feel like if Cal was in on the "pay to play" deal we would not have been losing recruiting battles to the lesser schools.
