Askew-He’s improved a ton and is a solid PG
Mintz-A pure SG who can shoot it
Allen-Pure shooter who can spread the floor and open driving lanes
Sarr-He played and looked way better at the 4 last night
Jackson-Defensive power house and great rebounder
Who do you say? What is your starting lineup going forward after last nights win?

We will not be able to have the season that many hope for without getting those two majorly involved, it's the reality of the situation. Both of these guys are legit 20ppg scorers at most other schools, Cal's lack of offensive sets and plays has hurt these guys tremendously.

Ware shouldn't start over Toppin, IMO, he can't score, we need players that can at least be a threat offensively. That's the issue with Jackson as well, over the last three games, he's been deplorable offensively.

Boston and Clarke cannot play together. Even before yesterday we have looked our bear when at least one of them were not in the lineup. Their time on the floor together should be limited to small 2-3 minute segments a few times per game until they start to show improvement and complimenting each other’s games and the teams as a whole.

I think Allen needs to start to provide early scoring to help give the team confidence and to open up the floor for inside scoring.

Hard to dispute, given what we've to this point, though if you try to play these guys 2-3 minutes spurts, it would be incredibly disruptive to the rest of the team. This issue is on Cal, give these two guys to any major BB program and they would immediately become the cornerstones of that team, they're both exceptionally talented and capable. They will likely average 15-20ppg in the NBA in a few seasons. Cal needs to figure out his offense and how best to utilize them, rather off screens, backdoors, alley-oops, pick and pop, driving floaters, whatever it takes. This team goes as far as these two develop.

If this team is waiting to be carried by Boston, we should wave the white flag now. Boston is only looking at what is good for Boston which is nothing close to being a team player

I liked your analysis I read last night. Boston needs to work from 15-16 feet, inward. He’s not a threat from deep right now, as you said. Plus, he’s long and can shoot over top of guys in the lane. Clarke - same - but start him from the baseline. I think that’s two great ideas.

Agree with OP, that should be the lineup, but Cal isn’t going to put Boston on the bench and Clarke will start as soon as he is healthy.

The lineup probably remains the same, but Allen is going to get plenty of PT in the next game. Now if he does nothing in the next game, he gives Cal an excuse to bury him on the bench again and we won’t see much of him after that.

we need both Clarke and Boston to be at their best to reach our ceiling whatever that may be. Don’t misconstrue that I think they should only be playing in 2-3 minute spurts solely, rather than on the floor together until we are getting improved play from them. Both should still be seeing a fair amount of playing time just not at the same time (for now). The 2-3 minute segments together can start to increase a little each game as we see improvement each game from them. Just can’t afford to go 5-7 or 10 minutes without a FG and we have several times this year with these two sharing minutes and the lions share of shots.

Like him or no Boston scores12-16 points a night for a team that is offensively challenged. As for his shooting I have heard Cal say repeatedly that he wants him to shoot the ball even if he’s missing. Hard for me to condemn the kid for doing as he is instructed by his coach. I don’t know if he is selfish or not, and neither does anyone here. I have gotten the impression this is the style Cal wants from him. If I was coach I would bring him off the bench for awhile and see how he performed there. It seems every year the fan base picks a player as the whipping boy for all our frustrations and. I guess this year it will be Boston. I’ll tell you what though, if we make the tourney somehow we have no chance in it if we can’t find a way to develop Boston’s game.

Cal should start Askew, Mintz, and Boston for the time being and when Clarke is healthy, rotate him in for Boston and rotate Allen in for Mintz and Askew.

That keeps two decent shooters (Askew/Mintz, Askew/Allen, or Mintz/Allen) out there with one slasher/non-shooter (Boston or Clarke) on the perimeter.

Cal needs to have at least two shooters on the floor all the time or the offense will become stagnant again.

Yea right lmao Cal would NEVER put a can’t miss, aau all star, top 10, 5 star prospect on the bench (Boston, Clarke). Unfortunately, Allen will be lucky to see 10-15 minutes a game. Cal won’t be able to stop with the quick hook on the “shooters”.

We have gotten every tip when Jackson jumps but didn't get the tips against State.
