Dopps lost 11-0 in the finals.

A little late but Yukon Tournament about two weeks ago. Jordan Williams man handled Zach Blankenship from Bigsby. I have never saw Blankenship pushed around like that. He got In On a few shots but finishing on Williams is hard task. After he could not finish Jordan turned it up on him with take downs and aggressive cuts. Ended up getting the major

Surprised by that. Did you happen to see any of Troy Sprately from Collinsville? Any thoughts on him?

Victor Voinovich fell from 7 to 17 in the latest Flo rankings. Anyone know why?

Looks like he's ranked 8th. Had another first period pin this weekend.

Yeah very surprised by that as well. The whole gym paused to watch that match. Two different body types... one short and stocky the other long and rangy. I don’t believe Blankenship has ever loss like that before; his strength and quickness was null an void. Williams has great ability but sometimes he keeps it close an it eventually comes back to bite him in the butt. If he can ever trust his offense instead of counters he will be lethal.

also Troy looks to be a really good prospect. I guess he transferred in this year for Collinsville. I was at a tournament in Enid an saw him beat two guys ranked ahead of him nationally. Collinsville has some very nice lower weights. He’s definitely an guy to keep an eye on. He doesnt really pass the eye test but his skills are not to be ignored.

About every wrestler who is signed to us, or committed us or is a target of ours has dropped in the rankings. Most of that drop is because of injuries and even long term injuries. Dopps is obviously a guy who is close to a walkon and he would have to develop unbelievably to wrestle much for the Cowboys. We need to get Voinovich but he has lost a lot of matches this year as documented by Wrassler, so a drop in the rankings is understandable.

The 2022 class is a real key and several members of that class were wrote about above but future Cowboys possibly and their ranking are: Jordan Williams the 5th rated prospect in this class is at 126, Anthony Ferrari is rated 8th in the class and is at 145, Rylan Rogers is rated 10th in the class and wrestles 182, John Wiley is rated 19th in the class and wrestles 138 although I've seen him wrestling 145, Zac Blankenship is rated 20th in the class and is wrestling 132, and Troy Sprately is rated 23rd and wrestles 120. An important recruiting class in 2022.

I see now that Travis25 was referring to the 2021 Flo Big Board and not the individual weight class rankings.

One point on Flo's rankings...Willie left a few months back and he was replaced by Brock. Brock seems to have a different philosophy, it's more reactionary to a particular win or loss. Also, the Big Board is supposed to reflect long-term college potential. Ferrari at #5 because of injury is crazy. And Voinovich is better than #17 IMO. He's dropped some matches recently, but he has a better career record (and a higher ceiling) than many of the guys that jumped him.

Yeah to me the Big Board should be different than rankings. Drop guys like Plott and Ferrari in the rankings all you want. However, there potential in college hasn't changed at all.

According to Intermat, Picklo beat Surber 7-4 recently. I'd like to have seen that match.

That must have been on Jan. 30th as they were scheduled to wrestle at Mustang. I also would have liked to have seen that match. I have not seen Surber this year as he was still on the mend early. He is tall but would be much lankier in build compared to Picklo who looks big for 182.

I wish he would have gone to ISU, 35 just got a little harder. He beat Young Mastro for the junior world team last year 2 matches to 1.

Yep, he's very slick.

Some good news for you Harley...Dad & all 3 Ferrari sons attended the Mizzou dual. We have to be heavy favorites for Anthony & Angelo. If we can get at least 2 of Voinovich, Jordan Williams & Zach Blankenship, we'll be in pretty good shape.

Wrassler17 of the above three I believe Jordan Williams is the must get-not to say that other two are not great.

I think all 3 have extremely high ceilings. Williams is such a superb athlete and already pretty polished.

Blankenship might be the best athlete of the 3. People forget he essentially almost takes the entire fall off for wrestling to play football and does so at a high level. He also splits time with Wrestling to continue his S&C for football in the late spring/early summer.

He will be a FT wrestler in college and I think he will jump levels when that happens.

Went to the OU board to see if they were talking about the dual. Came across a post that said Williams won’t even give us a look. According to this poster there is a lot of bad blood in Collinsville towards John because of some issues we had with Garry Wayne Harding.

Anyone have any insight?

What issues? Are they mad that Harding got benched in favor of Kaid?

So I went and checked out the board. Bunch of crap about how John “uses” and “screws over” a ton of wrestlers. They brought up Marsteller as an example.

The thing with Gary Wayne Harding is that supposedly when he tried to transfer John tried to block it and bring in an attorney. I’m not sure I buy that.

I would hope there isn't any bad blood. I haven't heard that from anyone in that area. GWH had an opportunity, and lost his spot. He was never a guy who was going to do damage for us in the lineup. Simply look at Brock's career vs GWH. It speaks for itself.

I asked Seth over on PFB+ if he knew anything about it. If he replies I’ll let you guys know.

Seth responded. Said he was around the room during that time and everything seemed amicable between Smith and Harding and doesn’t know of any bad blood between Smith and Collinsville.

Also said he heard Williams is leaning towards UNC cos that’s where Harding is.

I've heard we're definitely in the running, but not the clear favorite and UNC is a school that's recruiting him hard. UNC is slowing becoming a desirable destination for blue chip recruits. With Coleman Scott, Tony Ramos, GWH, and volunteer coach Jordan Oliver, it can be a desirable destination. With that said, it still is a long way in his recruitment and with these kids nowadays they could change their minds (ex. Picklo).

Am I the only one a little concerned with AJ’s relationship with the brand Nearfall? He is wearing it in every social media post, and today’s he is eating dinner with representatives of the company.

If he was a basketball or football player I would. After the way they’ve punted the RTC situation I don’t think the care the slightest about these types of things and wrestling.

I would never trust the NCAA and what they might do or might not do. They have developed into a pitiful organization who look out for themselves and who is giving them the most money. Look at Missouri getting kicked in the head by the NCAA and North Carolina whose academic abuses were far greater and went on far longer and they got a slap on the wrists by the NCAA.

Some comments from the coaches while they were at the UNI dual.

What a horrible year for injuries for our recruits when I just checked in the National Prep preview I find that Trevor Mastrogiavanni is injured and not in the tournament. Plott and Ferrari haven't wrestled a match all season. Luke Surber just got back from injury. I was really looking forward to seeing Older maestro in this very tough tournament. This would have been a fun year watching our recruits wrestle the final year of high school but its not been. Trevor missed big tournaments early in the year also. I am concerned about injuries in the future because good luck has been rare for us, for a long time.

I just went to the upper weights and found out Travis Mastrogiavanni isn't wrestling in this very tough 152 weight class where had a chance for payback against a guy who upset him earlier in the year in the Iron Man finals.

Rough year. I think Anthony Ferrari is also missing the state tournament in TX.

Quick update on some other commits...

Alex Yokubaitis won state @ 126 for his 4th title. Wrestled @ 120 & 126 during the year. Won over 50 matches, his only loss was to a solid, but unranked TX kid.

Burks wrestled 126 & 132 all year, but is going 132 for state. According to the Huskermat, he has one of the toughest tourney brackets. Undefeated on the year with some nice wins.

Jezik is on course for a rematch with Hoselton @ 195 in the IL state tournament. Looking to avenge his only loss on the year.

Haas is wrecking guys @ 220 in KS. All pins this year except for one tech fall in less than 2 minutes.

I just gave him what for on your behalf. Says he’ll drop back down to 160.
This morning I watched Rylan Rogers win at 182 at the National Preps and he is a sophomore who looks more like a 170 than a 182. Very quick like in the semi's he had 7 takedowns in the first period. Saw him use the assassin in several of his matches. He has a very good low single that he uses a lot.

Burks lost in the finals at 132 in overtime 4 to 2 to knopick who is a decent wrestler but still Burks can't score more than 2 points. I am sure Burks could wrestle 126 but still not to be a Nebraska State Champ his senior year is not good. Knopick is a junior who is rated 81st in the 2021 class.
