Travis won 9 to 5 in the quarters to advance to the semi's. He will wrestle the number 2 seed Cardenas in the semi's who I did not see in flo ratings at 38.
Travis lost to Cardenas 8 to 5. Cardenas dominated the first 2 periods. I thought he is not very good but he came back and got to takedowns in the 3rd period. He did battle back some in the 3rd but was behind like 6 to 1 after 2 periods and got rode the minute of the second. Because of that Travis took neutral in the 3rd period.

Travis won the 3rd place match 7-6.

Was trailing going into the 3rd period by a score of 5-2. Got 2 takedowns and a stall point to win.
One thing you can say about Travis is he is in shape and he does go and go. He won those last 2 matches on much better conditioning and not quitting Wrassler thanks for the information on our commitments and targets wrestling in different tournaments over this season..

Speaking of recruits & tourneys, Geary starts this Friday (on Flo). I didn't see Blair listed, so I guess no Mastros. They've been recovering and may not have wrestled anyway. Good news is their coach said they'll be back sometime this season.

Doucet & Carter Young should be there. Plott & Surber might still be out.

Dopps is not ranked nationally, but he is #6 PFP in Kansas (Haas is #1). He lost to Picklo 6-3 a few weeks ago in the Stampede semis and ended up taking 3rd. That match is on Flo.

Thanks Out here in Jenks watching Blankenship from bixby... the guy is a little tank.
Watched Dopps against an incredibly slow wrestler and I can not imagine he will be within a tech fall loss to Picklo. He got his two takedowns in the match I watched after the opponent did not react within 5 seconds or more.

The Mastros are back from injury. Blair is hosting a few teams this weekend...here's one of them. Trevor around the 32 minute mark & Travis around the 52 minute mark. The other duals are also on YouTube.

Appreciate the video but the Mastro's matches weren't very long.

Picklo has had access to higher level coaching. I think Dopps will catch up quickly when he gets the same access.
I did not see anything at the Geary Invitation that looked real good. A weak Geary invitation compared to the last few years. I have been keeping track of John Wiley 145 sophomore who won Fargo, as a possible Cowboy and he won at 145. I saw the semi's and finals and he did not wrestle well. It appears to me he is struggling with a knee injury and therefore lacks some speed, explosiveness and flexibility. I still think he will be very good. I wish I had your optimism on Dopps but I think he is close to a walk on and I agree more with Oberebo.

oh, i don't think he is getting big bucks for sure. But the room he is in now, compared to what he will be. I am thinking maybe a Nolan Boyd type of improvement. But, if things work out with our highly recruited guys, he won't see the mat in a varsity dual. But some talent that could be improved by coaching and workout partners to where he could possibly do more.

I watched Angelo Ferrari and Jace Rollers first matches at Tulsa and they both won by pin.

Ferrari won by major and Roller won by tech fall. Both are in the quarters.
Weird quarterfinals for Ferrari where he was ahead 5 to 2 with 40 seconds left in the match. The ref stopped the match and kicked out someone from Ferrari's corner and called security. There was a long delay and Ferrari ended up forfeiting. Jace Roller wins by major and is in the semi's. Also Blair had a dual against Wyoming Seminary last night and Older maestro won by pin younger Mastro lost in overtime to a freshman. Roller won 4 to 3 in the semi's and Ferrari Forfeited out of the tournament. I don't know who in the Ferrari corner the ref wanted to be in the stands instead. I would guess that person in the corner said we are out of here then.

Kyle Haas is in the Newton Tournament of Champions and is in the finals with 3 pins at 220. At 182 Dopp is also in the finals against Saunders a sophomore in Kansas who beat 1 of our recruits last year in the State finals.

Saunders a sophomore who is undefeated beat Dopp 4 to 3. Kyle Haas won by 1st period pin in the finals.

Mastro who lost wrestler up 2 weight classes and lost in a very exciting back and forth match in OT.

Jace Roller won Tulsa with a pin in the finals against the same kid who won by forfeit over Ferrari despite Ferrari being solidly in control. Roller was behind 3 to 0 in the 3rd did a strange roll for a reversal right to his opponents back for the pin.

They did wrestle at 160 according to the article I read which is up 1 weight from Mastro (152).

The younger Mastro is lighter than you might think. Last month's Ironman had a 1 pound allowance. Mastro weighed in @ 149.2 when he was allowed to be as high as 153. In comparison, Gabe Arnold weighed in @ 160.5.

The Blair / Seminary dual is always a chess match, with the coaches moving guys around. I was hoping to see Mastro against Lachlan McNeil (#1 @ 145). McNeil weighed in @ 146 at the Ironman.

Mastro might be able to make 149 in college. Worse case, he's a 157. And he's really really good. Finalist good, not just AA good.

Sounded like Dad might have been a little fired up.

He was fine, the ref completely overreacted. AJ senior was coaching Angelo from the corner and yelling instructions. He even told the ref, I'm talking to my wrestler not to you. The ref saw the size of Mr Ferrari and called security anyway.

It's like John said, some officials are sensitive, you need to ask them if they want a hug.

Ferrari beat Roller at the Junior Open Championship two weeks ago 1-0. The ref prevented another great finals match at Tulsa

i never heard anything during the match that I thought was bad-during the timeout is when I am talking about. No idea what got the ref all fired up. Looked like he might have just been pissy, but then senior got after him. No reason IMO to forfeit out of the tournament.

Trevor Dopps has pinned his way to the finals at the Rocky Welton Invite in KS. He faces Isaiah Salazar in the finals. Salazar is #7 in the country by Intermat (#4 by Flo) and just won the Doc B a few weeks back.

A little late but Yukon Tournament about two weeks ago. Jordan Williams man handled Zach Blankenship from Bigsby. I have never saw Blankenship pushed around like that. He got In On a few shots but finishing on Williams is hard task. After he could not finish Jordan turned it up on him with take downs and aggressive cuts. Ended up getting the major

Williams is and has been the more highly regarded prospect right now.

Blankenship has also only been back to full time wrestling for a few months now. Blankenship is obviously a highly talented kid but is also one who I think will make strides once he goes wrestling full time.

Victor Voinovich fell from 7 to 17 in the latest Flo rankings. Anyone know why?
