Off the top of my head, the D1 kids from the last 4-5 years I've been here are:
Jase Mclellan & JoJo Earl both play for Alabama
Filiaga is starting on Michigans OL
Wyatt & Wes Harris (brothers), Sam Forman and Colt Ellison at TCU
Money Parks at Utah
Jake Bishop is at Texas Tech

there's a bunch in other tiers...

and Aledo made Raiola run for his life this year as a top QB recruit...
Filiaga is in the portal.

We had no chance with McLellan or Earl. Not losses.

we recruited Filiaga but he chose Michigan

the TCU guys weren’t heavily recruited and are part time starters/ players there.

Jake Bishop hasn’t played a snap at Tech

Money Parks had 1 reception in 2 seasons

I get that you like your local HS squad, I’m proud of ours too but let’s not get carried away with these players as difference makers or players Nebraska should have recruited.

as far as the Raiola comment, our high school team made Jalen Hurts look ordinary in his final HS game. Sacked him 4 times, tackled him for a loss on a run 5 more times, picked him off 2 times. He was a one man show. But that defense only had 1 guy that played at the P5 level, but a boatload that played at the G5 or FCS level.

Seems like Applewhite would be a good hire. Experienced. Spent his career mostly within the original Big 12 footprint. Tangible results in his bio.
Have you ever read any coach's bio that didn't have glowing things to say and those "tangible results"?

Pick a really bad coach and read it, you will probably want to hire them immediately.

So what players has Applewhite recruited over the years to be considered an "Elite Recruiter"? Just curious.

Was he the lead recruiter? Sounds like Zach wasn't all that happy at TCU, so kind of an interesting dynamic. I do hope he succeeds here.

Frost definitely put a heavy emphasis on getting guys in who can recruit. Which is a really good thing. Feel like the offensive staff couldn’t be any more night and day from the prior. I think if Frost gets out of the way and let’s these guys work the program might just end up saved.

Might be four years too late though.

Adam has drank himself a big ole belly full of Koolaid. I'm not sure I agree with any of his check marks as they are all a stretch. It can't be any worse than Held, but pump the breaks.

He’s a big analytics guy. So while I don’t always agree with him, at least his options are based on stats/metrics.

A buddy of mine showed me a tweet that Filiaga is transferring to minnesota for his final year. Not sure how Fleck pulled that one off.
Yeah, you'd think it'd be obvious to the transfer players that he's a slimy, self-absorbed douchebag who is just out for himself. Or maybe.....

Maybe slick car salesman would be more appropriate…

That being said, as much as I struggle to like the guy, living here in the twin cities I do hear good things about him behind the scenes. I see his image on so many things and in so many places that I do get the sense he promotes himself relentlessly, but not so self-centered that he doesn’t do a lot of good things as well. My daughters in the minnesota marching band think highly of him due to interactions he has with the band.

Yes, getting a transfer player proves he’s not the POS every other piece of evidence shows he is. Wow, nice logic.
