The Possum did not make the cut but the Mosquito did (K1030 in the list; #1 in our hearts).

Hmm. That's the only link I see and it's from the MDAH Facebook post. I don't see anything on the MDAH website yet.

Let's see if the embedded tweet works:

The Commission to Redesign the Mississippi State Flag considered the nearly 3,000 flag submissions and narrowed their choices to 147. I'm wondering if that's Coach Polk's submission. **

would be cool to have a commemorative Helmet for the flag launch....that is, if we ever play football again.

I just want all the ones with that guady state seal on it eliminated. Just please no state seal on a blue background.

Just curious..was In God We Trust mandated or did just the ones that made the cut happen to have that. Also, any meaning to the stars ? Some have 20, some 10...etc

It was mandated... It's stupid to require it, but it's a requirement for the new flag.

No idea on the stars. 20 is obviously for the fact that Mississippi is the 20th state. Not sure about any other number of stars.

I don't know about "best" since can't see the others, but this one is certainly attractive and shouldn't offend very many.

Happy they didn't propose the arabic lettered flag, or any of the proposals where someone gave their 5-8 year old kids a box of crayons and said "we are going to draw new flags today and you are not leaving this table until you give me one."

I think the mosquito flag was a poke to remind us what they could do if we pissed them off.

I guess they never saw my favorite, The NASCAR race black and white checker board flag. Would be nice to see them wave the Mississippi flag to end all car races, and it is biracial friendly.

It made the cut to 147. It's flag #E1322. But fishwater is right. It has no chance. I think Lauren realized that and gave up on it. Most posts on their Facebook page have been deleted and it looks like their website has been taken down.

I stand corrected. She did add the words In God We Trust to her flag before she deleted everything. But I think she just added them a the bottom, not incorporated into the circle of stars. So E1322 is a slight modification of her flag, but unknown who created it.

My top 5

E1007, E1020, K1288, G1264

the canton on G1366 looks like the offspring of Dogbert and Col Sanders

I think someone submitted it - but it was really poor quality. Almost like they'd printed it out on paper, then scanned the entire sheet and submitted it. It was the one where they just added IGWT along the bottom. Or maybe someone added that themselves & submitted it.

I believe E1322 is one of Rocky's variations. That's been one of my favorites this whole time.

Darn it. The Mosquito Flag was removed. I guess I'm throwing my support to Z2022 now.
