At first glance, it seems to me that the new route is set up more so to protect the student athlete than the fan. Which is understandable, less exposure for the players because it seems to be a shorter distance. But it will cause more of a congestion of people in a smaller area, whereas if it were the normal route, the fans could spread out more. Who knows...
