The list of needs was an X and O's coach with a specialty for defense. If he could also coach the bigs that would be a benefit. Henderson fits both those bills. From a wide view this looks/sounds good. Recruiting would be a bonus, but a must for all coaches.

With his ties to Texas highschools, this is nice. Let him take control of the defense and let Haith focus on his fast breaks. I can see this being a nice union.

This sounds like a potential head coach for TU. Looks like a good hire but time will tell.

Prior to coming to Boise State, Henderson went 708-172 (.805) in 25 years as a prep head coach in Texas, and was named 2012 MaxPreps National Coach of the Year while at Marcus High School in Flower Mound, Texas. Wow....708-172 is amazing at any level. There were a lot of in-game decisions to make in those 800 games as a head coach.

Tap the brakes just a little. He was the third assistant and wasn't retained to a coaching position by Underwood or OSU. I do like him as an assistant and love his ties to Texas recruiting. He's just a long way away from being a D1 head coach imo.

But they did interview him for the head coaching position? That's what the article said. Did they just interview everyone? Or was there some sense he could be a candidate? That would definitely give the decision to not retain him a different feel. Tho of course Underwood didn't take him...

They interviewed everyone on the staff. The process was a dog and pony show as was the hire imo.

The team just announced the hire of David Deets for the Strength & Conditioning vacancy. He is coming from Mississippi St. and before that he had stops at Arkansas and Mizzou with Mike Anderson and OSU and TCU before that. (He helped develop English)

Pretty solid hire!
