Of the most recent 25 threads posted on this site, 20 of them are about football. Four are basketball-related and one is about...wrestling.

As disappointed as I am with the state of our basketball program, I must admit, this is quite refreshing.
It’s crazy. I would have never thought in my life if we had a combined board that football would be the entire front page. It’s awesome and crazy. I hope somehow basketball gets back to where we all want it to be. It shows that you shouldn’t hang onto a mediocre coach when there are others out there who can take you places.

Its all about winning.

There was also a 7 page post game exhibition thread about basketball.

So the obsession, most of it boring back and forth about the same boring pope arguments, is still there.

Im all for the football news and talking about that. Much better sport and college football is amazing.
Not to get ahead of ourselves but I was thinking how much better we will be next season. Stein should kill it in the portal and with recruiting plus guys will be coming back.

NIL is changing everything for "blue bloods" in both sports. Teams are no longer deep. Injured starters are less likely to be replaced by a player of similar quality. Just look at all the push back, raised eyebrows and chagrin our football team is experiencing as we defeat the LSU/OU/A&M of the football world. Every team will have multiple losses every season, much like the NFL. One key player goes down, and the team takes a huge hit.

Plus his pockets should be much deeper next season for NIL and recruiting. He's already proven to be a worthy investment. Next year I expect our donors to pony up, and our finance bro AD to do his fundraising thing, so Stein can compete with the big boys. We'll promote our returning QB to the max and take that next step as a program.

Nowadays, in the college athletics, all roads lead through football.

Just my opinion.

Let’s be real, 10 years ago that basketball exhibition thread would have been 20+ pages.

Forums in general have died in favor of Reddit, Twitter and Facebook.

But there is a noticeable trend of indifference and frustration toward the Kentucky basketball program recently. Those boos from last season were fans showing their discontent for the direction of the basketball program. How often do you hear fans booing their own team? That’s not normal. The Kentucky fanbase is not happy If the admin doesn’t fix it, fans will walk away.

Obviously the recent success of the football team are making people reasonably wonder “Why is the football team succeeding with much more limited resources than the basketball team? What is going on with basketball?”

J Batt better figure out the problems going on with basketball or Rupp bleachers will start looking a lot more bare soon.

Understood. But that usually doesn't matter. Historically speaking, posts about a UK exhibition basketball game would dominate this board.
Bet nobody knows names or numbers yet. I listened to the first half of the BB game but had no interest in watching.

You would have to be some kind of glutton for punishment to invest any time or energy in a Pope coached team.
I am literally checked out of basketball to a large degree until Mark is replaced. How anyone could be all in for Mark Pope basketball is so beyond me I can’t even see any points or reasons tbh. We are basically doing Indiana basketball things right now. The cringe, exploding over “moments” with our own watshot. Logging on to read how we’re “turning it around” because we beat Mississippi state and Missouri after getting the doors blown off to football schools who spend half of what we do. Dealing with the “coach crowd” who basically argue that the leaking has stopped on the boat, neglecting the reality that we’re still in the middle of the pacific with a damaged boat that is still going to sink. The most ridiculous people of this board and always has been.

I’m good, it’s Stein time, and all of my emergency is there. Not even interested in going to basketball games until he’s replaced. I’m not interested in hearing the BS - this is Kentucky basketball and he’s not qualified and he sucks. Put as much candy sprinkles as you want on the turd, it’s just a pile of sht. It’s the last of the true Barnhart hires (he was told who the hire would be in football) meant for mediocrity and his own personal access. Imagine rooting and wanting a Barnhart access hire who was his second choice of the “religious” picks. Good lord.

I feel your pain with the basketball team, however, I haven't checked out & can't bring myself to root against them, not that you are, kind of sounds like you're like "they win, great, they lose, Pope sucks & needs to be replaced" lol.

It's football season & I'm a long time season ticket holder, still in football mode, can't wait till Saturday against Vanderbilt.

IMO, football resources had better pick up and quickly to ensure success. NIL revenue share needs to be put on par with SEC powers. I don't look at it as taking from basketball as much as a long-needed correction in funding.

Good points. Been saying similar things to my pool of friends. The way things are now can absolutely help UK football rise. Unfortunately, it could work against UK basketball in much the same way. It’s definitely leveling the playing field.

My .02 cents worth…

A UK football fan is an unusual animal. We have spent decades (generations actually) blending impractical optimism at the start of a season with mind numbing disappointment as the schedule plays out. Regardless of the final record, we come back next year with a hope-against-hope of success. I go back to the Charlie Bradshaw and John Ray days at Stoll Field…so my perspective warrants a degree of credibility.
So very grateful I’ve lived to see the days we are enjoying now with Coach Stein. Our team is now legit. Not because we hit an occasional “upset” win, but we can truly compete with just about anyone out there.

As for the large volume of FB threads vs BB…personally I don’t even look at the BB ones anymore. Way too much negativity…and life is too good right now.

GBB!
