It is so politcal. Some family member statements this morning wow. The US population has bred a quarter century of Islamaphobia tropes about Arabs/Muslims, foreigners/immigrants. And a majority of people endorse it.
On this 25th anniversary, it feels like there has been more of an emphasis on sharing personal stories: Courageous acts by first responders, relatives of those who perished, and children who are now adults whose parents never came home. Probably the most important thing we can do to teach the next generation….sharing those personal stories.
This should be a day of remembrance, sympathy, empathy...unfortunately there are actors that push deep state theories, make it geopolitical.
I don’t know what you’re watching but I haven’t seen or heard any of that today in speeches at the various sites.

I am apolitical. I dont push trope theories based on religious/political sway group think.
Think about this there is no outcry for evangelicals or Christian conservatives to stay away from OKC but months of sham rhetoric about the current mayor of nyc. Meanwhile the mayor of nyc on 9.11 kept a command post at wtc when it was advised not to. Lied to citizens about the safety/health quality of the air.
I saw part of a show about some kids who were at Stuyvacent HS in Manhattan on 9/11. A bunch of kids of Asian and middle-east heritage were walking on the West Side Highway, trying to figure out how to get home. A man yells at them - their group included a girl in a habib, "go back to were you came from" and a kid says, "we are, we're trying to get to Queens".

I am quite lucid, many far older than me on this space.
Today is about honoring the victims and heroes. I’m not going to respond to politically charged posts.
We know who did it; we know why they did it. The reflection of what we’ve done since and what we still need to do is a topic for another day.

It seems like yesterday and not 25 years ago when the streets of downtown turned into grey ash that covered everything. Almost 3000 people perished that day. It was heartbreaking to see people jump from the building. The shock of seeing the building I worked in WTC 2 collapse before me. Out of the horror was the togetherness of Americans in the days , weeks and months after. Everyone in NYC was trying to help each other. A togetherness that seems so far ago.
But the death toll was not over that day Tens of thousands died from breathing in the WTC dust. The after effects have lasted decades. I am one of those people that whose health was probably affected from breathing in the dust after the collapse and returning to work two blocks away from the site for an additional 6 months.
The impact of that day should never be forgotten. Every day American should know that there are people who want to destroy this country. There is an element of the Muslim world that want to take over the US. They Would like to conquer Europe. This is not Islamophobia. This is also not saying all Muslims want this. But it is reality.

I strongly suggest watching the 911 special on MLB channel. Wonderful show. The stories about Jeter (and Eddie Vetter too) and the girl whose Dad was one of the pilots, the family who connected with Griffey, the Piazza homer, the Yanks, W's pitch right down Broadway. Need a better word than poigant. If you are like me, have some tissues handy. I suggest a whole box.

Saddam Hussein also a Sunni Muslim. Saddam part of Ba'ath Party in Iraq though Sunnis were small percentage of population vs Shia. Ba'ath was a pan Arab nationalism belief system.
