It really seems like this is getting far less attention this year than normal. We must never forget what happened that day.

I thought the same exact thing!

Unfortunately as time fades- I fear 9/11 becomes like Pearl Harbor Day - a day that lives in infamy but only old people care about !

As someone who worked on the WTC on the 103 floor ( not on 9/11 ) - this tragedy is personal to me and should never be forgotten !

And keep this in mind when these animals domestically and internationally are chanting “Death to America “ etc.

Never Again and Never Forget!

The courage shown that day is an inspiration.

That is a fantastic performance. More powerful now that his son is a firefighter in Jersey City. And sad that two members of the band on that stage died too young.

He has not played that song live in the US since 2016. His son was sworn in as a firefighter in Jersey City in 2020. He played the song on July 5 2024 in Hanover Germany and on July 15 in Sweden.

His son became a volunteer firefighter in his home town of Colts Neck in 2014.

Wonder if he plays it Sunday at Sea Hear Now. Would be epic and emotional for many.

60 Minutes devoted their whole show Sunday night to a tribute to the firefighters who perished on 9/11. These guys simply felt they were just doing their jobs, but the world knows better that they were incredibly brave and selfless heroes. Pinging @e5fdny on this, in case you haven't seen it. Thanks again for your service and to everyone else who served.

Worked with many of those profiled.

On tMB they had a thread about things you didn’t know about 9/11. Here’s one…

Pete Hayden who was the Division One commander that morning (and as mentioned eventually became Chief of Department) is an incredible dancer. Like Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly good.

Was at a retirement party 3 days before 9/11 and he was there with his wife. Man that guy can dance. It’s like they were floating.

Yes I believe this shown every year on the Sunday near 9-11. I have it recorded from past years.
My wife said to me “we watch this every year.” I said that’s right , “we watch this every year “

As a teacher it is very different teaching it now, than it was even a decade ago.

My juniors were born in 2008, so for them it truly is a moment in history and not a memory (like it was for my first students).

I always spend the day teaching it. I speak on my experiences that day, I show a video to commemorate someone who did something heroic (The Man With The Red Bandana was my focus this year), we go over the facts and times of the day, and then I show them the newspapers, magazines, and recorded news from the days after 9/11 that my family saved.

Unfortunately whomever is running our country these days has forgotten how horrible that day was.

Al Qaeda changed its name and morphed into "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" or HTS.
HTS is now running much of Syria after US got Assad deposed (US also ran "Arab Spring").
Now that Assad is gone (and no he didn't gas his own people) US is propping-up HTS.
The line is that US is going slow to protect women and children but that is a crock.
US helping install Al Qaeda brahs

"The U.S. has already dropped a $10 million bounty on Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani, the Islamist leader of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, or HTS, the Sunni Islamist group that began as an offshoot of al Qaeda and led the assault that toppled the Assad regime. "
