Their QB two-deep has an "or" next to it.Typically not a good thing entering week 1....

Here are the game notes from Nevada. I can't find NU's.....

Note that Timmy Chang, the record setting QB from Hawai'i, coaches something called "Inside Receivers"....

Four tight ends on the roster. Maybe that's his area?

Interestingly, outside receivers coach Eric Scott appears to have been part of Gary Barrett's first recruiting class at NU, though he transferred to UCLA.

I stormed the field with a cast of hundreds, and hugged him after the game. Wonder if he remembers me.

David Cornwell transferred from Alabama. This will be his first game at Nevada. As a high school recruit he was rated by Rivals as the #3 pro-style QB in the nation. Their other QB is Ty Gangi who apparently is a duel threat type guy. People on a Nevada message board are speculating that they might alternate these guys. Like Siemian and Colter.

If Cornwell transferred from Bama he obviously has more arm talent and pro potential, so why would Nevada let him rot on the bench, even if Gangi fits their spread system way better and is effective in his own right?

Because you are likely to be more successful if you find a QB that fits in better with your system and the skill sets of the other 10 offensive players on the field than it is to do the opposite. If Mumme is related to Hal Mumme, the former Kentucky coach, then I think we are in for an air raid type offense rather than a spread offense with a healthy dosage of running the ball. Lots of work for the DL and DBs.

Please, it's dual-threat, not "duel-threat," unless the guy plans to face off against us with pistols at 20 paces. Actually, do they still run a pistol offense at Nevada?

He is Hal Mumme's son. He was head coach at a division 3 school last year.

I remember the game-- a rainy afternoon, and ESPN was there (a much bigger deal back then). The Cats scored late in the 4th after Scott's long return; Barnett went for two and Dennis Lundy ran it in for the lead and the eventual 22-21 winning margin. We beat Wake Forest the following week to get to 2-1, and then didn't win again the rest of the year...

Did I hug you too?

The barnoculars had long since been dry by the end of that one.

I don't remember BC being ranked as much as thinking this was the beginning of a great season and a turnaround. If you recall, we had a 2nd half lead against ND the game before. Then to beat Wake the next week, was thinking a bowl was gonna happen.

Then we lost the next two by a combined 87.

Maybe! I was a sophomore and that was probably the biggest win I had seen up to that point (BC was ranked, right?). I remember rushing the field with a bunch of people after the game but not much after that. Good times.

I was a wide eyed freshman at that game and instantly became a huge fan of Lenny and the Jets. Was not as much a fan the following year of Lundy, Lundy, Pass, Punt.

I remember the 1993 Transitive Property National Championship. Northwestern > BC > ND > FSU.

The '93 BC game is one that I'll always remember. It was new student week and I was a freshman attending my first NU game at Dyche. Doesn't feel like that long ago...

Yes, what a terrific moment for the Cats. I was on the field that day as well. BC was a pretty solid squad at the time with Glenn Foley at QB and Pete Mitchell at TE. It was quite the upset and a glimmer of things to come. #ExpectVictory

Claim of the national championship? Whoosh...

Please explain the joke to me. I'm slow.
