Beat PSU and we will end up north of 75 which is plenty to get in given our resume. MSU and others have gotten in the NCAA with 70-75 NET

stop worrying about NET..........
it is where it is and it's close enough for the world we've created.

just win Sun.

Net-schmet..........

NET don't pick winners......... a committee does...
NET may affect seeding. Yea we want in. But we also don’t want first four

We’ve been up and down and most of the down was when key guys were injured but one thing is for certain. This team is dangerous and a tough draw for anyone.

It may be fair to surmise, if we go:
0-2 - NIT
1-1 - Last 4 in
2-1 or better - avoid play-in game

Participating in the play-in game would be a tough pill to swallow. Wish the NCAA would do away with the First Four format. It really is a slap in the face labeling the participants as being barely good enough.

we may be stuck with the first four game unless we reach the Big 10 semis, thats where the NET ding for seed will come into play. It depends what is going around with the other schools so its hard to say. Guarantee at least one of those ACC bubbles is in the first four games as well

One of the final four teams came from the play-in game last year so I think it's here to stay.

Really cannot see any of that happening. We are 11-8 and Iowa and Ohio State are 11-7 and we have Penn State home and Iowa is at Michigan tonite and at Illinois on Sunday. Ohio State has MSU tonite home and at Michigan on Sunday. We beat Penn State very likely and Iowa and Ohio State each lose 1 of their 2 games, very likely then we are the 4 seed and get the double bye. We hold the tiebreakers against everyone. Our first game in Big 10 tourney will likely be against a 5 seed , which will be a Quad 1 game and will not hurt us if we lose. I have us as the last 11th seed today , last bye, and after we beat Penn State a definite 11 seed before the BiG 10 tourney starts.

Given all of the great media attention and praise we've received over the last month for all of the elite wins it's becoming hard to imagine being left out altogether barring a spectacularly bad showing in our next two games. I want to get in and also avoid the first four, but ultimately our penalty for our weak non-conference schedule and NET could be a place in the first four. I'm not going expect the committee to completely disregard the NET so I'm not going to gripe too much if we make it and end up in the first four. I definitely want to avoid a matchup with a Nebraska or Minnesota in the Big Ten Tournament. A loss to just about anyone else, even Maryland and Northwestern, shouldn't have any major impact on our chances of making the tournament barring a meltdown at home against Penn State.

I would agree that the next two games likely won't do much to improve seeding (assuming they don't get in the B1G top 4) but you don't think the Indiana win moved them past the last four in?

RU is still on 17-12 with a bad net and bad losses, that still puts them in First 4 territory, if they beat PSU and win their first round BE tourney game, they likely avoid the first 4 but 1-1 puts them in Dayton at 18-13

lol can you imagine being a 5 seed drawing 12 seed Rutgers in the first round. That’s the freakin worst draw ever for a 5 in recent memory. I pity that team

It’s important to separate “should” from “will”. I think any impartial college basketball observer would say we should be solidly in and would like watching us play, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we will be in or avoid the first four.

Do they continue to update the NET during conference tournaments or do they only consider the regular season?

I think we are beyond the play in game with a win over PSU. Net is just one factor, a factor which RU has established is a farce. I think it’s Indy that is now playing/praying for the play in. An ACC team, an A10 team, a Mountain West team and an SEC survivor of South Carolina, LSU, A&M, Florida, more likely IMHO.

That may very well be the factor in RU not being the play in game. As much as they will argue with a straight face that the NET is soooo important, seriously doubt they would punish a 5 seed with having to play a 12 seed Rutgers…unless of course it’s someone they want to punish.

Michigan is also in the mix for play in game should they drop 2 more

If we end up with an 11 seed and no play-in game, then all of the suffering the team put us through will have been worth it. We'd have to get past a 6 seed and a 3 seed to make the sweet 16. That's not terrible. And the 6 seed that sees all of their hard work rewarded by getting us in the first round, is not going to be happy.

Any scenario with RU in the tournament has the First Four as a very strong possibility...im ok with it, it worked for UCLA last year.
