some folks are worried about whether or not we will get a NCAAT invite. I am not. We keep playing like this, we have nothing to worry about. I am especially looking forward to the Texas game. A win there would be a benchmark that UK is back. I suspect other SEC coaches are already drinking more Jack Daniels as we speak....

That was an E8 team last night. Typically once you are there it’s all about draw and we’d likely have to play Baylor or Gonzaga. You steal that game and boom, you’ve hit the apex and have a slight downward step across the finish line.

I believe I saw no one team starting 1-6 made the tournament. The 1-6 record could easily have been better but some very poor end of game execution on some of those. IF they continue to play well and win, the eye test will supercede any record. They need to play more games like a yesterday to make that a reality.

Yes they were 129 going into yesterday (144 was the opening NET ranking).

Big jump as it was a quad 1 road win by 18.

Kentucky moved up to 43 in Kempom as well.

Problem is you start 1-6 and you don't have those 6 non conf cupcake games to pad your wins you are starting to see the problems with getting into the NCAA tournament don't ya just based on pure wins and losses.

Even with a good SEC season like 12-6 that won't get you into the tournament this year when your overall record is 13-13 if they lost to Texas.

Even 13-5 SEC puts you at 14-12 not exactly the kind of record that gets you a bid.

Henry, I agree with you. That is why we need to go 18-0 in conference play and win the SECT. We are at the point where EVERY game is a must win.

I think the game against Texas will tell a lot about this team. Really need to win that game, because outside of them and UT, there isn’t going to be a lot of opportunities for high quality wins.

I think the next game will also show how far these guys have progressed as a team. Alabama is playing solid ball right now and they have three guys who can shoot at a high percentage from deep. The Cats will need to play stellar on offense and defense to win. GBB!

The committee also puts into perspective a teams injuries. If we play well with Brooks, those losses without him won’t hurt as much.

Even if UK had gone 3-4 instead of 1-6 there would be a little wiggle room. But as you stated probably need to go 13-5 and a win in SECT.

Our win combined with ND moving up and now not being a Quad 4 loss like they were to a QUad 3 loss made a big difference. Yesterday it showed us with only one loss outside of Quad 2 and it was ND at Quad 4, but now Quad 3. It's weird to even think of ND as that low. I'm not saying they are ever great but dam you don't picture them being the kind of team to drag you down.

I think we go 14-4 or 15-3 in conference. Texas game could go either way with the way we are playing.

That puts us at 15-10 going into the tourney. Go 2-1 in the SEC tourney and that makes us 17-11. With a strong SOS and NET ranking, we could get in and we will be a dangerous 11-12 at-large bid in a year where seeding doesn’t mean as much and geography means nothing. Our travel is minimal because every game is in Indy.

We just can’t have any more bad games. We have a very small margin for error.
