And so have some of the teams ahead of Rutgers. You can't look at things just from a Rutgers perspective which is a problem around here all the time. You have to look at the entire picture.

Its easier to win q1 games than lose to q4 games

But beating Q1 teams is extremely relevant in the tournament. The field is full of them. Losing to Q4 teams is completely irrelevant in the tournament. None will be there.

That's why Q1 wins should be so much more important to the committee.

It matters for bubble teams. In 2019 Indiana was 17-14 (8-12) and Ohio State was 18-13 (8-12). The played in the BTT and Ohio State won. The Buckeyes got an 11 seed and Indiana went to the NIT.

The game itself both were lingering around 45-55 don't remember the exact number, maybe Indiana was higher. Ohio St was favored for the at-large before the game, less losses, better win % is better when there is a tie of Q1/2 wins, the OSU win solidified their spot.
