After a real high point vs. Oregon, one that we've been waiting for since we won at Washington during T-Mart's freshman season, the NW game scares me.

1) Coming off a big win, could there be a letdown?
2) First road game
3) First conference game
4) Night game

First game that truly means anything. Hoping I'm just being a little paranoid.

I think it helps with it being a night game. 11am Big Ten games...on the road vs a crappy team with little fan support are games that teams sleep walk through.

I remember and interview years ago with Kirk Herbstreet and he was asked if OSU had a chance to lose that weekend on that road in Illinois. He said something "Sure, if they don't wake up in time because it is an early start, it is going to be gray and cold out and there will be no fans there"

If this was a typical 11am game with gray skies and half the stands full...I could see a big lack of energy. But this will be at night with 50% of the stadium filled with Husker fans.

They beat us last year ...plus we are wearing our alternate uniforms....so that adds a sense of excitement for the players.

I don't mind the concern for the game because of the factors listed, but I don't understand the mention of 2010 and the win over Washington. Nebraska won the next game, albeit, tighter than most would have guessed, but it feels like a weird game to list as your proof.

This is a big game to confirm the direction of this team. NW has always given us fits and we have had close games with them. If the team shows progression and wins cleanly and plays good defense then this will help confirm we are in aupward trajectory. If the team is sloppy and we have a turnovers and the defense gives up big plays then that makes the oregon win less

I think a night game helps us a lot. You could talk me into it being a bad situation if it was an 11am BTN game but they will have all day to prepare for this. This coaching staff wont let them relax after last year. It will be all hands on deck this next month.

I feel like the Washington win was the last time we won a game that had a "big game" fell to it.

I think you always have to be a little nervous with this team, especially playing NW. Remember the first two games were 21-10 and 24-17 going into the 4th quarter vs Fresno and Wyo.
I for one respect the hell out of Fitz and what he has done at NW. Seems like this team lives to play against Nebraska. Only 1 game out of the last 5 with NW has been decided by more than 3 points.

Many a coach goes into a game worried about his team's preparation. You will often hear coaches after a rough game say they didn't have a good week of practice. Sometimes you see it coming and sometimes you don't and there isnt that much a coach can really do. If there was a magic bullet you wouldn't see the number of let-downs you do now. Once you get into one of those games it is difficult to get your mo-jo back.

The only way it is close is if bad Tommy shows up. NW's offense is terrible. Their defense is okay stat wise, but look at who they have played. I think we could probably run it all day long and win this game easily. Don't get too cute with the passing game Langsdorf.

They are down 3 CBs and a starting safety....passing is the way to go this game......their strength are their linebackers.

3 games into the season and we have yet to see bad Tommy for any extended periods... We've seen him for moments, but not quarters... Can we say it's ok for Langsdorf to call passing plays in light of this?

I agree that their run defense is better than their pass defense, but I still think we can and should run it on them. You start getting cute with the passing game, and a pick 6 here or int there, and it's a different ballgame. It's at their field, I dunno.. I'd rather we shorten the game, win it and get out of there.

I'm starting to get a little nervous. I know this team can beat them by 40 or more. Just dont want to see a letdown or play to their level.
