Starting w/ Memphis vs. Kansas, Cal always seems to tighten up in close games down the stretch which shows up in the players, and as we know it's getting worse as the pressure builds.

Cal's comments after our final game are a great indicator.

He specifically said that he was unable to play Toppin, Hopkins, or Collins because the game was too close. What? A confident coach should know our bench alone should have been able to handle the peacocks, especially when the starters were struggling with confidence. Screaming and panic on the sidelines transferred directly into how the players reacted and handled the situation.

As the season progresses and pressure builds all over again he also reverts back to the things he knows best regardless of how effective it is. Face up M2M 30 feet from the basket and dribble drive.

Not sure how he fixes this. Not sure it's possible.

I agree with this to some extent but let's not pretend like when cal does show confidence in his bench players and they **** the bed that you guys don't harangue cal for not "knowing better than to keep playing them"

This exactly what I stated awhile back. And expect it to be worse next year when there will be even more pressure on him. That is why the teams start playing better when Cal is removed from the bench.

I agree. Maybe Cal is sooooooo nervous that he forgets who is on the bench....like Toppin. BTW, he keeps saying the same thing over and over. He keeps panicking (forgetting).

Cal is numb to losing, and extremely rattled right before losing. It's obvious... It's easy to see, the guy has Kentucky effect called PTSD. Anxiety sets in before the horn, heck with plenty of time to win. Coping with it is go numb. **** is truest **** I've ever said.

Tubby had the same problem late in his tenure here. Remember the Michigan State EE game? He didn't play Chuck Hayes for the entire overtime. Why? He only had 4 fouls. What was Tubby saving him for?

LOL. Toppin was the second best player on the team in the first half of the St. Peter’s game. Anyone with a living brain cell could see that. But Cal had to look at the stat sheet AFTER the game to acknowledge Toppin should’ve played a lot more in the second half. He actually said that. That’s bordering on braindead.
