Outside of Cliff, no contribution from our freshmen. Outside of Rieber for like five minutes there hasn’t been any all year. Too early to call them a bust but certainly haven’t lived up to the hype - we kept hearing great stuff about Palmquist in January/February 2020 but hasn’t translated to the court

No 10-12 game OOC schedule for development. Biggest factor

They’ve made contributions. Right now with everyone healthy they don’t have a role which is just fine.

edit - didn’t mean to say that they have no role. Just not on the court necessarily right now. Their role in practice and supporting the team is important

Freshmen will not be getting much time unless we are giving up.
I think we are still going to make noise this year.
We have to notch some back to back wins.
And beat ranked teams.

This is how the majority of good teams are. They have maybe one or two freshman contribute unless you're Kentucky, Duke or UNC who gets multiple 5 star one and dones.

You count on your experienced upper classmen to win. In years past we didn't have the talent to not have our freshman play a lot.

Actually thought the shortened bench was a big factor in today’s game. I’m sure we will see that continue going forward ... with montez getting more minutes then today ,going forward

We just broke a losing streak. Why the need to go negative?

Trust me I am. But just spoiled by freshman contributions in previous years.

We had freshman contributions in previous years because most of our upperclassman weren’t very good.

Now we don’t have that issue.

It’s pretty hard to have freshman contributions when you have an experienced team up and down the roster who are better than your freshman and almost no OOC games.

Relax.

No it’s not
Freshman make impacts all over college basketball. We aren’t writing them off, but you can’t be happy that only 1 is making an impact.

ron played 20 2nd half minutes
Paul 17
Geo 17

there was an opportunity for PT today. Paul is a nice glue player. When I see him playing the minutes he played that is a bad sign for the 3 freshman.

sorry

Look at the top 3 teams in the country and count how many freshman are playing significant minutes.

The one thing I will say is this has been a real messed up season for the frosh without OOC games and an anything but normal introduction to major college basketball and college/campus life

pike said he was very high on this class ...and that’s not counting JJ and Jaden miller

they get this year back ...and next year...we have 6 frosh. Cliff, Jaden, jalen, Oskar, Magot ans mag.

let’s see what those six give us next year with a more normal off season and 11 out of confrence game schedule

Coach trusted what Mulcahy could do for us today more than freshmen on the road in a critical game. Doesn't mean they won't get their chances down the road, or be strong for us next season if needed.

Other than Cliff, we don’t need our freshman to make an impact this year.

When healthy Cliff has made an impact.

We have a deep team filled with veterans. There’s almost no opportunity for our freshman (other than Cliff) to make an impact when basically just playing a conference schedule.

Now if you want to argue that it’s concerning our freshman haven’t gotten much experience or might not be ready to step up when needed next year and beyond, that’s a whole bother argument.

Wrong again.

Pikiell’s strategy today was to shorten the bench and play the kids that would bring home a W.

There was no need or reason to play freshman other than Cliff, and Cliff played pretty well.

Only negative which almost cost us again was free throw shooting at game end; Harper missed 1 out of 2; Jacob Young missed the front end of a 1 and 1 and then Geo missed his first and thank fully made the second; til that point in the game we were shooting our best percentage of the year from the line
