Need some help guys. I'm having a discussion with a family member regarding Boeheim. Obviously this discussion came up because Syracuse didn't make the big dance. Good guy vs POS? What are your thoughts.

Whines about any little thing, played stupid when all the stuff that was going on at Syracuse was investigated and said he had no knowledge of any wrongdoings. I've never liked the guy and think he's just a weasel who could care less about his players and is all about saving himself.
When he threw that PG under the bus (think his name was Ennis) for going pro after his first year I really thought of him as a POS. Literally trashed the kid and said he wasn't ready for the NBA because he wasn't coming back. Also his assistants wife slept with the basketball team.
41 years, 1 title...most overrated coach in college basketball history.
Plus, a huge dirtbag.
I have two friends who are HUGE Syracuse fans and they hate him with a passion. Said it's a common thing amongst Cuse fans. Root for the team but hate Boeheim. They are literally counting the days until he is gone.

Boeheim is....what Tubby wanted to be...lifetime mediocre coach based on occasional success.
His career does remind me of Tubbs with the exception Tubster likes to roam from town to town. Always a step ahead of the screaming mob . Tubby may end up in Syracuse some day
Pitino hooked him up with his wife. There's usually some story behind it if Pitino hooks someone up with his wife.

Solid coach. Built Syracuse from the ground into a top 10 program and if it weren't for him they would probably be in some no name conference. I love his accomplishments and will defend that all day

Definitely would be #10 and no higher, and you can debate switching them out with Villanova, Georgetown, and a couple of others but they are absolutely in that conversation and it's comical to think otherwise. Look at their final fours, all time wins, and tournament appearances and they are right there
I think in 3 decades at Syracuse he has 1 more final four than Cal does in 7 years at UK. I could be wrong but I think that's accurate. I'm not at a computer or I'd look it up.

I used to live there. From all accounts he is a huge ******* and no one really likes him but he is great to his players.
I was a senior in High School when they won in 2003 and I remember in the following years when people were throwing Gerry McNamara under the bus Jim had one of the all time great player defenses at a press conference.
Well I can't say much good about his personality always loved his coaching style and I'm a big zone defense fan when you can supply it with long athletic guards.

The first reply nailed it. He has whined for years and years. Two big whines in the last few days. Hey Jim you don't like Greensboro, don't join the ACC. You don't like the NIT, don't lose 14 games.
He didn't build from the ground up,they had a good program before he was coach.They even had some players like Dave Bing before he was coach,not a bad player.
Pitino got Hawaii in trouble and I'm sure that he learned the cheating trade from Boeheim.
