Looking like a much more physical/hustle/defense/rebounding team. Still can't shoot to save their ***.

Never in a million years did I think Hoiberg would make this program worse than Barry Collier.

And some couldn't wait to get rid of Miles. For this? Maybe Miles needed to go....but it will be interesting to see how long Trev waits.....
Miles’ teams were at least fun to watch from time to time. He’s better than anyone else we have had this century. Hoiberg has been a huge disaster.

Gosh I sure hope we can get a new speculative coaching search going on the board. The current one has been so much fun! If we could just have one going year round it would really make this place fun(ner).

Me neither after watching the game all’s I can say is how the **** bad Hoieberg is not getting shooter’s and position big men to compete in the physical Big 10..

Hoiberg and Matt A treated this place like a G League roster. It was more about finding NBA prospects and not filling up the roster with guys that could win you games. College basketball is different since his ISU coaching days. Everyone recruits the portal. Back when he did it he was a pioneer. He went for the flashy recruits and didnt get enough of them. He needed blue collar players. He went for pizzaz and it didnt work. I want Trev to give him another year. I think if anyone can get us over the hump. It's Fred.

The issue last night was that they couldn’t handle St John’s pressure D in the second half. Forget shooters and big men, they had trouble getting the ball across half court…. Worst half of basketball I’ve ever seen from any college team.

There was a team a few years ago where every team we played ran a half assed 3/4 court 2-2-1 press that I've seen 4th graders break with ease that we couldn't get up the floor against to save our lives. Looked like our staff had never seen it before and took WEEKS until they figured it out.

At least this was pressure causing mistakes. Not excusable, but understandable.

Even after four years of failure, Hoiberg apparently still thinks he doesn't need a true point guard. It's mind-boggling.

Well technically he has one but he’s a 6’7” white guy. St John’s pressure was withering though. It didn’t help that they got insanely hot from 3 in the second half.

As long as Nebrasketball continues to sell out PBA, I wouldn't be surprised if Trev retains Fred just to torture him. ;)

I’m going to my 1 and only MBB this Sunday for this year vs Ark-Pine Bluff and expect to be thoroughly underwhelmed. Don’t have high expectations for Fred also don’t think it’s wise to pay him not to coach by letting him go. Think a goal to be .500 in conference play, on occasion, in 3-4 years is reasonable, with or without Fred.

There was no good reason to bring Hoiberg back for another season - none. Despite the loss to Creighton, Amy Williams has the WBB program moving in the right direction. With each new loss, Fred throws another shovel of dirt on the rotting corpse which is Nebraska BB.

No point guard, zero low post presence, poor shooting......ugh.....
Walker would help but we sorely miss Trey McGowen and Kobe Webster. It’s kind of hard to believe Fred couldn’t find a JUCO point guard who could handle and defend.

I think what we are witnessing is what have heard all along about Fred, he hates the recruiting process and I’m beginning to wonder if he’s not all that interested in the player development part either. If the practices look anything like the games, can’t imagine practices are little more than rolling a ball out and and let the players have glorified pickup games.

Darian DeVries is waiting for the Iowa job to open after McCaffery retires, whenever that is. Sorry.
Nah……..unless DD starts going deep in the tourney his path isn’t to Iowa, believe the faithful will take Dean O when that time comes. Fran’s not going anywhere as long as Gary Barta is still around. Personally think Creighton opens up before Iowa, Mac is ready to golf year round in Arizona, DD will slide right in.

Pay attention. You'll see.
