This is after the boat rowers shellacked them last week. At the same time though does firing him now make Frost come any quicker? In their case, I don't think it really makes a difference in the scheme of things whether it's this weekend or next weekend but these days ADs have itchy trigger fingers so who knows.

This is the place I think Schiano winds up at , IF they don't hire Frost.

I think Frost goes to U Florida.

I wish we had played IU back when everyone was healthy and Nebraska this week....... wonder if it would have been different?.......

Schools like Nebraska won't accept mediocrity and will fire head coaches after 3 years because they have the money and the yearning for the good old days when Nebraska was a national power.Rutgers in a far different place.

The AD has already said he won't fire a coach in season. He waits till it is concluded. Most believe he will be fired next Friday night or Saturday morning after the Iowa game. Scott Frost seems to be the popular choice since he was born and raised in Nebraska and played there. He has said multiple times that he wants to be the coach at NU. I'm sure the stuff going on between the AD and a lot of candidates agents is interesting. The guys that it seems may be in the running are Frost, Mike Norvell, Justin Fuentes, Chip Kelly(the new AD and him were together in Oregon), and Matt Campbell. Schiano won't get an interview unless things go way way down the list. The AD would loose his job if he hired him more than likely. It will be an offensive modern coach.

And this is news because ... ??? Pretty much everybody has assumed for several weeks that a change was being made, and that was before the AD got the boot. Not really worth even talking about.

Wow, if true. I mean they have tons of money so I guess it doesn't really matter but 5M for a coach who hasn't done it on this level yet? Coaching salaries are just absurd these days. I'm not against paying guys those kind of salaries who deserve it but more and more contract extensions, money just get handed out like candy.
he is nebraska version of harbaugh. program a mess and he played for nebraska during glory years.

I didn't think the question was about will Riley be fired as much as will Riley be fired this weekend as opposed to next weekend. I didn't think there was really anything to be gained in Nebraska's case but now huskeralways has stated the new AD said there will be no in season firing so I guess that answers that.

I think he's a very good choice. But my point is you don't really know until you know how he's going to do when he takes the step up. But these days coaches get paid as if they've consistently done it already. It's not so much a Nebraska thing as a college football thing.

Somewhat like Harbaugh, I do think he's seen as a savior, favored son returning home which could put very high/unrealistic expectations on him. But Harbaugh had a longer track record at different levels and even he's "struggled" a little now at Michigan so we'll see about Frost. I think he can be good but as good as they may want or expect? Don't know.

Really ? 2006 Coach of the Year, offered jobs by Michigan , Miami and others. Then the NFL comes calling.

I don't think they fired Pelini so much for results as personality. He was doing about what they can be expected to do in the Big Ten. And yeah, Schiano's best years made him a miracle worker to most people.

And how did that all work out? Loved Greg at the time but no titles and left at the worst time. Even Iowa crushed his defense. He's overrated by this board. The sooner this board gets over that the better.
