Number 9 ranked Nebraska (22-3, 11-3) visits Carver to tackle Iowa (18-7, 8-6).

Nebby has been really good on the road (6-1) with their only loss at Michigan by three points. While they aren’t a great shooting team, they’re really good at rebounding and passing the ball.

I really don’t know why Iowa is favored in this game. 81-73 Nebraska.

What are your predictions??? Starting line up....... does Sandfort get an appreciative Carver Hawkeye cheer or an NIL $$$$ chasing boo??

I don’t know why Iowa is favored, either. It makes no sense, just like Purdue only being favored by 2.5 the other day made no sense. Sure, the Hawks can win this game and I hope they do, but when you compare the two teams the advantage seems to favor Nebraska.

I would disagree to the tune of - I think Nebraska is a bad passing team. So many wide open guys on the perimeter receive bad passes they have to adjust to field. Rarely do they get to catch and shoot in one motion.

As far as shooting, 36% from the arc may not be elite - but its pretty good - and the sheet volume of 3s they put up has them 12th nationally in 3s made per game.

I have a feeling Iowa wins tonight. Folks are realizing they can beat Nebraska at the FT line. I expect Iowa to do the same tonight. And winning on the road in the B1G is always a huge challenge.

And no - im not insinuating thats due to officials giving Nebraska a hard time. It would make sense that when your whole identity is to shoot 3s and then get in transition - you're going to get dramatically fewer calls than teams driving into the paint consistently.

Why Iowa fans would cheer an opponent who exercised his right to leave the Hawkeyes is beyond me. Personally, I would just ignore him and his teammates, but any boos directed his way would be entirely understandable and appropriate. Anything beyond booing, though, is unacceptable and has no place in sports.

They shoot a bunch of 3pters and do it well.
Frager,Pryce,Lawrence, hoiberg and mast can knock them down.
Hawks cannot let them have open looks at the arc .

Cannot understand this line unless they feel our 13 of 50 shooting from arc last two games mean that statistically we hit 18 of 30 from arc tonite to get to our 38,% average over last three games.

Need complete 40 tonight. Hawks have struggled first 5-10 minutes in what seems like all season and Nebraska is very good in 2nd Half. Alvaro Folgueiras is critical. Need good Al tonight and probably 20+ from Stirtz.
I would like to see Stirtz be aggressive with his shot right from the start.

I know Bennett's heart and inclination is in
the right place, but when you're better with a middie than the other guard is with a two-footer ...

Not trying to put this all on Bennett but ... it's all on you Bennett.

Better watch out for Hoibert. He's been hot lately from 3.

Nebby does not rebound all that well, we need to win that battle. They also have been turning it over more, we need to have many less than them. Offense needs to move a lot better than last game, think it will. Stay in front of Sandfort and Hoiberg, don't let them go off.

If we beat Nebraska and Ohio State at home and Penn State on the road (with losses at WI, at NE and to MI), this is likely how the B1G Tournament would shake out.

IF we lose tonight, we likely will end up playing on Wednesday :(

It cant be understated how atrocious Iowa was defensively against Purdue. Purdue had a good night, but Iowa was REALLY bad on that end. If that continue's, it will be the same result again.

Little Debbie wants to improve their NCAA Tournament seeding.

Iowa wants to get off that 8/9 line.

NCAA Tournament Projected Seeds, per ESPN:
1 Michigan (Top Overall Seed)
2 Illinois
2 Purdue
4 Nebraska
4 Michigan State
7 Wisconsin
8 IOWA

I don't know why they don't promote these games better.

NOTE the 2 pack promotion (pair of discounted tickets); thing is, did anyone know about it?

If there's anything with Iowa basketball that I can count on, is to expect the unexpected. Whenever I'm down on an Iowa team, they surprise me and pull off a big win, and reel me back in.. Then they proceed to kick me in the nads again. So, Iowa winning tonight wouldn't shock me. I expect a much better effort than last time out, I'll be disappointed (and convinced this team has entered a free fall) if we don't see that.

I can accept a loss - but I want to see a competitive team at minimum, and hopefully a win.

That's why Ben said he was contemplating a lineup change
Don't just think about it, Ben. Do it, man. It's that old KF thing about continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results. Change it up! Make the results better. I'd like to see some more freelance offense. The guys know how to play. Let them play free and easy. Take it to Nebby. Get shots up early. Run some sets, sure, but mix in some freelance and confuse the Huskers. Maybe even play some half-court pressure at times, especially early, to disrupt Nebraska's timing and get the Hawkeyes' juices flowing. Throw everything at those guys tonight. This would be a HUGE win.

Sure, let’s cheer for a player that left the team, joined a B10 opponent, and will do everything he can to defeat the Hawkeyes. Good god. Anything less than the usual derision reserved for opponents is unacceptable.

I agree, but I am also unfortunately expecting an L tonight. At this point I am just looking for tough competitive BBall that gives Iowa a shot.

If I were Ben and wanted to get off to a decent start offensively, this would be my starting 5:

Stirtz
Hausen
Banks
Folgers
Cam
I don't get this constant demand for Hausen to get more minutes. He's supposed to be a 3 point specialist and the dude is shooting it at 29%. That's the last thing this offense needs is more poor shooting. Does anyone besides me look at statistics?

But look at what Combs has been doing lately. Maybe it's a little slump but he's been just bad, imo. Hausen seems like he's bringing more juice now, and yes he's missing a lot but boy a lot of 'em sure seem to be just rattling/rimming out. Maybe more of 'em will start dropping. Maybe???

How about playing a guy who actually has a shooting percentage that's 13 points higher already?

I get the impression from Ben's comments that combs is battling thru some nagging injury woes.
Maybe that explains some of his drop off?
We know banks is...we are thin.
But,maybe the worm turns tonite?

I think Hausen has been surprisingly good on defense lately so that's part of it. Like I said maybe Combs has just been in funk recently but it's been quite bad, imo. Barely drawing iron several times from two feet had me calling for the hook. Hopefully he regains some form.
