Honest question here...

Do other "big" programs have their coaches talk to the media as much as Nebraska does? I love getting the insight but it seems we have always overdone this making the coaches say obvious redundant things. "Frost says a lot of the same things and it gets old" Well yeah, we make him talk after every damn practice what more is there to say? Then he does a few Sunday shows talking about the game they just played. Even during the week it seems there is a lot of press always going on. I follow a few other schools and it seems much less of the media -- maybe we just care more?

Not really, the problem is that it’s a fishbowl type media where everyone knows everybody. Some of the journalists asking Frost questions were asking him questions when he was the QB.

A typical schedule for any P5 head coach....coaches show, then Monday/Tuesday press conference, week appearance throughout the week (typically a Thursday) and in most cases a 15 or 30-minute radio show for the university radio program.

Frost actually has it pretty easy compared to some other schools.

I heard it on the radio a year ago or so that there's very few programs that have as much media access as Nebraska.

Problem I have is it seems that journalists today don't necessarily ask questions. They tend to make statements in the form of a question or say it in a manner that you have little wiggle room to answer. At that point it's just better to say yes or no.

Personally I would rather listen to what the coach is thinking than a canned response to a reporters agenda

Your first sentence isn't true, not at the P5 level. They are right when it comes down to the lower level conferences like Conference USA where some head coaches don't even do a weekly Monday/Tuesday press conference, they just get slotted into a 15 minute mark of a 2 hour long media call and media gets to ask questions.

I find that hard to believe as I follow Iowa pretty well and no way Kirk has as many appearances to the media as Frost does. Same with Campbell at Iowa St

frost doesnt speak after every practice. I think he does 3 times a week, except when he is on Sports Nightly to make it 4. Monday, Thursday, Saturday.

They both have a coach’s show they both have a press conference every week following the game ..

Does Ferentz ever go on a radio station occasionally? Frost does occasionally…

I've had out of state relatives remark, "Oh my gosh! You have football stories in the newspaper and it's not even football season!"

Well, I try to get "cliffs notes" and I dont bother with the dog and pony shows. It seems like everyone gets their panties in a wad over something that some announcer or questioner asks. It is all show, Frost is usually ticked and he doesn't answer the questions anyway. That my personal take, YMMV.

frost is doing it right. he's coaches show with sharp is 100% better then a bo show.
he does good after games, reviewing what happened in a intelligent way.
he even has thick enough skin, to have will compton belittle his nfl career on a bus.

frost is a young coach, who cares for NU, and lets future recruits know they can sign right on up, be in good hands, and be all that they can be. the future is bright.
