1)Fun moment with Terry getting some minutes. A basket would have been great, but there is something about the smallest guy on the court grabbing a bunch of rebounds in a couple minutes.

2)I thought Jones and Palmquist looked liked they were trying to make a statement. Palm's swooping in for that initial rebound and taking the ball up court and then Jones taking the looks as soon as they were available. Now it wasn't many minutes so there wasn't much time, Palm's never got a shot off, thought he looked a little wonky on the offensive end actually(I see a TO though I don't really remember it) and Jones got all of 2 shots off, but I thought there was something to each of them that was saying I'm ready for more minutes.

3)Given the score for much of the 2nd half I would have liked to see a couple more minutes from these guys. Maybe not the whole garbage time unit, but up 20 with 8 minutes to go? Up 24 with 7 to go? Would have liked to see those guys woven in. Not sure how many more opportunities like that they will get the rest of the year.

Granted, I haven't watched a ton yet this year.

I Expect to see both Jones and palmquust in the portal…I think losing Jones would be a shame bc I a ton of potential.

Palm has been in the program 3 years with a half season redshirt, it’s not gonna happen for him at RU…time to transfer

Néed to replace them with a proven SG

There isn’t a coach in America who believes that being up 24 with 7 minutes to go is garbage time.

A) Like I said, not the whole garbage time unit.

B) Reggie Miller doesn't play for Nebraska.

I think Jones will be a starter next year out of necessity. He should get enough minutes to put it all together in the early non-conference games next year, including at least one monster game where he drops at least 25 points on someone.

Palmquist should see lots of minutes early next year too.

Aiden Terry is my height and what my weight was at that age and looked like a little kid among giants out there. As a lights out three point shooter in high-school (48% his senior year) he may earn meaningful minutes at some point if he beefs up a bit and develops a little more explosiveness.

Terry is a great story but he will not be playing meaningful minutes for RU. He looks like an 8th grader

Yes I was being generous. It’s like the old joke… “Sure I may be small, but I AM slow.” I’ve seen smaller players do well in Division 1 hoops but they are beasts at the squat rack and he isn’t there yet. Im sure he really is a lights out three shooter though.

Above-average Rutgers team”
“Scarlet Knights having a breakout performance “
Think about it from Nebraska’s perspective… we’ve been in the league for 8 years… this is certainly an above average Rutgers team given what they saw for 5 years 😉

I knew it was only a matter of time before a poster said something this dumb.

Just like Luke Nathan, Aiden will not see a meaningful second on the court.

Unless he is put on the court to foul someone or shoot a free throw because of some rule that makes him be that guy he will never play in a non blowout

Interesting side note, Papa Kante, Cof 2023, was either on Campus today or this weekend. Two names of note responding to the Rutgers post was Gavin Griffiths and Baye Fall, both Cof 2023.

Luke Nathan played meaningful minutes against Purdue. Of course Aiden isn’t ready to play meaningful minutes but perhaps down the road if he gets stronger and quicker an opportunity will present itself.

A 5’11” walk-on QB just won a National Championship BTW…

So...no....strictly a bench sitter ?
He’s obviously currently overmatched out there. If he gains thirty pounds of muscle and can hit from very deep then maybe he’s an emergency three point option at some point. Anything is possible.

I guarantee he’ll weigh at least 190 anyhow at some point in his life.

So if somehow he suddenly transforms into being not way too short, not ridiculously tiny and not way too slow ?

That’s always a lazy and utterly unpersuasive argument - to point to the one very rare walk on that contributes like the Georgia kid.

Shall I counterpoint with pictures of tens of thousands of other walk ons like aiden that only saw the court in garbage time ?

Let’s revisit this concept if he grows 6 inches, gains 30 lbs of muscle and magically acquires athleticism that the Creator did not previously give him

deal?

What’s your point? You think I don’t see the difference between Geo Baker and Aiden Terry? Of course Aiden Terry will likely do nothing but ride pine for years to come. Also, Luke Nathan could see some time tonight since he’s currently the second most effective big man defensively.

What’s my point ?

im responding to your illogical post that aiden could see “meaningful minutes” if he wasn’t short, tiny and unathletic

Hell I’d be Brad Pitt if I wasn’t fat bald and ugly

Point being he could improve dramatically because that’s kind of the whole point of college to begin with. Maybe Terry hits the protein powder and gets his gains…

he could certainly gain some muscle with hard work (he’s a small dude with a small frame… even THAT will take lots of work) but it’s unlikely he will magically transform to not being short.

and how exactly will he acquire athleticism that he currently does not possess. Other than a deal with the devil how would that happen?

He seems to lack Achilles talent for sure. I feel his pain…

Let me repeat myself - AIDEN TERRY WILL NEVER PLAY A MEANINGFUL SECOND FOR RU.

Unless he grows to 6'5 but that's about it.

Nathan played like a minute and was basically asked to just stand there and foul if needed.

Congratulations on stating basically the obvious. Are you worried about his scholarship spot this year? I believe he’ll be off scholarship again next year.

Luke Nathan provided exactly what was needed of him against the top ranked team in the country. A lot can happen in a minute in college basketball. He’s larger/stronger than anyone else after Cliff on the roster.

I am not worried about anything. I just know so many of you think this little white kid is going to become a contributor at some point. It'll never happen

Also thought they should have gotten more time--for them & also to avoid injuries to our starters & primary subs.

Congratulations on stating basically the obvious.

directly equivalent conversation:

you: "if my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle"

others in response to your posts: "well your aunt cant just magically grow balls so she will never be your uncle"

you: "what's your point?"

others in response to your posts: "I'm responding to your comment that your aunt could be your uncle if she grew balls. let me make this clear - your aunt will never be your uncle"

you: "thanks for stating the obvious"

seriously....wtf?

Holy crap. The kid’s mom just died and Pike just put him on scholarship and then Pike gave him some run vs. Nebraska. I would be shocked if he ever plays meaningful minutes but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible either. Pointing out that an undersized and under athletic walk-on guard will never play meaningful minutes is just silly. No one expects him to suddenly appear in a game unless the game is in g-time.

You are taking the wrong angle on this.

You literally said "if he beefs up and gains more explosiveness he may earn meaningful minutes"

I'm simply putting that to bed because that's never happening, ever. The kid got 3 rebounds in garbage time where he literally just grabbed the ball with no one around and people are asking if he can develop into something.

His best chance at contributing is if he becomes a coach and good recruiter

He “only” needs 30 pounds of muscle…
And I have been able to add 30 pounds of “muscle” since high-school.
