How is everyones houses doing? This is the craziest thing I've wittnessed. I work in South Dakota and Yankton is a mess. Heard the Norman bridge on highway 12 west of NIobrara collapsed now hearing Spencer dam collapsed.

Wondered how you were. Just talked to my buddy in Crofton (RK). He sent me some pics of areas around Fordyce. I did see some pics of the Spencer dam and 281. Not good at all.

Luckily I prepped the 2 days prior got both sump pumps running, gutters cleared and paths for water to run away from the house and have been dry so far. There are lots of people that have feet of water in their houses and shops. Verdigre is a pretty big mess.

Various videos online of the Spencer dam and 281 bridge gone are pretty jaw-dropping. That's a lot of water.

I'm thinking I'll drive over to gavins point after work and see whats going on. It's a lot of water they were not expecting. That and the video of the state sheds in Niobrara floating down the new river path.

I live near the Platte near Louisville. I stopped to see how the river looked over lunch. It was pretty scary. I grew up on the Platte and I have never seen it move so fast. It had flooded all the houses near the bank. It was terrifying to watch, it looked like rapids.

"Hwy 7 just north of the Niobrara river bridge ice jam that went over the road. Some of the chunks of ice are bigger than my county pickup!!"

Just one of many roads out. Rock County N of Bassett, Carnes bridge. These will not show up on the 511 map as they are country roads.

I pray that everyone survives this latest storm. I don't care what team you follow and I don't care if you tease me about living in Omaha, I will pray that you all stay safe and can somehow make it through these floods.

Looks like hurricane footage, except with ice. Some of these small towns are really going to struggle to recover. If the area normally didn't flood, then most people probably don't have flood insurance. They may not get any help at all, except what they can recover from a possible claim to FEMA. People are really going to have to rally together to recover from this.

And remember, do not drive across moving water. Only 12" of moving water can cause tires to slide, and 18" of moving water can sweep a car away. You see it all the time when flooding events happen in Texas, and lots of people end up requiring water rescues or worse.

This is unbelievable. Read all the replies to this when you click on the Tweet. Prayers to all the rescuers.
Sounds like the Blackhawk got the firefighters out, a couple of whom were not wearing water gear. Family still trapped in the house.

WTH is even going on there? Rescuers in the blackhawk made contact with someone and was basically told to piss off by the family. Others say the family is at the hospital. Did they make contact with someone else and how the hell did the family get to the hospital?
