Well it's funny you say that... No where in this thread did you or anyone else say "Fire Erstad" unless you want to count 4.6.3 jokingly saying it. When someone like yourself says "I was not i favor of the Erstad hire"... what exactly are you insinuating?
I'm not "insinuating" anything - I was stating a fact. I wasn't in favor of hiring Erstad to be the head coach.

The reason I re-stated that position in this thread is that in response to original post, I was pointing out that expecting three conference titles in Erstad's first four years was very unrealistic. And I wanted to make it clear up front that I wasn't among the "OMG OMG OMG he has a World Series ring AND he was a great punter - SO OF COURSE HE CAN COACH!!!" brigade.

That's fair

1. The OP is absolutely asinine
2. You responding with "I was not in favor of the Erstad hire" makes you look like you are agreeing to the OP
3. I may have over reacted so I apologize to you and anyone else that may have felt disrespected.
4. This board has a "Nebraska Coach" hot seat thread after every loss and it gets very tiresome
5. This board is a negative energy lightning rod, and it wears on you!

I agree with your first point. As to the 2nd point, I was not in favor of the Erstad hire either. Obviously, that does not mean I agree with the original poster, because I called him out for the stupid comment that the B1G was the worst baseball conference, and then also for suggesting that the Power 5 football conferences are the only conferences that matter in baseball, because there are plenty of teams that make the CWS from outside those conferences, and some that even win the national championship. The fact that I was not in favor of the Erstad hire does not mean I am calling for him to be fired now. I am on record as saying you can't read that much from one weekend, so I am certainly not pushing the panic button now just because of this weekend. But if results this year are like last year, I think he should be fired. I also believe, as I stated above that there is almost no chance that will happen no matter how bad we do.

You know what's asinine? Not expecting a guy to be on the hot seat in his 5th year, when he has some of the best facilities in the country, and just barely made his conference tournament as the 8-seed...while playing in arguably the worst Power 5 baseball conference in the nation.

Darin Erstad should be officially on the hot seat. I thought we would have had at least 3 B1G Championships by now in the Worst baseball conference in America! If some think Tim Miles should be on the hot seat, then Erstad's seat should be boiling by now.

I'm glad you have no control.

The thing that scare me is when we offer people who are batting .250 in high school. If you hit that in high school you are destined to be a Dave Valle like player if you are lucky being good at defense.

I have spent the last 10 years coaching High School baseball in Sioux City. I have never seen or heard about a Nebraska baseball coach at any games in our area. Over that span Sioux City area has produce 4 Gatorade Play of the Year for the state of Iowa.

We have had players end up at the following Division 1 Schools:
1 - Stanford
1 - Tennessee
1 - South Carolina
1- Kentucky
1 - Dartmouth
2 - Iowa
4 - South Dakota State

I really question who and where they are recruiting.

Just wondering and not calling you out. All on full rides to those schools?

Who gets a full ride in baseball - isn't the scholarship limit still 11.75 per program? Some of the top players in the nation are not on full rides.

Sorry forgot about one more who went to Illinois who also ended up being the Big 10 player of the year.

Division 1 baseball gets 11.7 scholarships for the entire roster. If a player receives any baseball money they must get at least 25% or nothing at all. That doesn't mean that everyone on the roster is getting scholarship money.

The other issue is that there are only 35 roster spots, baseball isn't allowed to carry as many players as they want. So these roster spots don't go to guys who show up on campus, they are recruited and promised a roster spot with the possibility of money at a later date.

I don't know if all of the guys that I mentioned are getting a baseball scholarship. I know the majority are getting something but how much I am not sure.

My biggest issue with the baseball recruiting is that if these were football or basketball players going to these school everyone would be really upset.
