If you're listening to the radio-I don't believe I have ever heard them as disappointed and dejected as they were. They were calling the team out for their lack of fire. And they were right to do it too. There was no excuse whatsoever for falling apart like that.
I'd say Game 2 of the Maryland series last year with Alvarado on the mound was comparable to today (incidentally, we made a tremendous comeback in that game).

Trouble is we're probably stuck with him for a while unless he pulls a Chris Mullen. Erstad was a great athlete and player but he just can't coach.

He did say he would fire himself. Of course, he throws out how he won the Big Ten a few years back whenever he can. As if we should be impressed with him winning a league title once every seven years.

I have no idea how Minnesota choked those games away against Purdue that year.

I wonder when he'll mention he talks to TO regularly.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise since Erstad had all of a year of coaching experience as a volunteer coach when TO went on the cheap and hired him. When NU moved to the Big Ten it put the baseball program on life support and then hiring Erstad was like the nail in the coffin.

I’ve never been able to figure out his offensive philosophy. He doesn’t have any big power hitters, they don’t really steal any bases and his idea of small ball is playing station to station bunting. His coaching is nothing like how he used to play.

I hope Erstad proves me wrong, but i really don’t have faith in him as a coach.

Unfortunately Erstad has produced exactly the results I was expecting when he was named head coach - mediocre enough that his diehard fans will always want to keep him, and not so bad as to leave the AD no choice but to replace him. I don’t think Moos will have infinite patience, but I do think Erstad’s one conference title probably bought him about four years. Doubt we’ll see a change anytime soon, especially if NU makes a regional this year.

Sorry but I have no confidence that they will make a regional. The meat of the schedule is coming up for conference play. They will go ofer in conf tourney and miss tournament. Then we will have to go through this for another 4 years

Im tired of the radio guys talking snout how hard our guys hit the ball. It dont matter how hard you hit it if its going right to people. Someday Erstad will figure out how to teach offense.

Glad I'm not the only one. "It's not fair", McLaughlin basically said at one point. Then, suddenly, it was 11-3 and that talk kind of died down

Doubtful on Erstad. It’s really rinse repeat with his baseball program. We will continue to hear the same BS coach speak in the offseason. The minions will eat it up and then a mediocre product will be put on the field. Rinse repeat.

I don’t know how you guys can stand Ben. I like listening to Greg on sports nightly and such. He is pretty fair and seems to have a level head. McLaughlin on the other hand, is a huge whiner and gets into pissy moods like someone shot his dog. He doesn’t credit other teams, as in, it’s always Nebraska screwing up and they should dominate every sport.

We tune in for Ben's hot "The Office" talk and his critiques of the uniforms.

I actually agree 100%, and am not sure how I can stand him, either :eek: other than I don't have much choice.
