Released today by D1Baseball.com. Nebraska a 3 seed in the Greenville, SC regional. Honestly not a bad spot. UNC would be tough but its not Corvallis. Creighton a 3 seed in the Corvallis regional, and UNO a 4 seed in the Fayetteville regional
Oh, that talk happens and people who do it catch crap every season now.My impressions of the baseball team this year are that they are NCAA Tournament bound and a #3 seed feels about right I guess, but man I sure miss the days when we were talking about whether or not we'd get to host a regional. I don't know if we'll ever have another run like that, which is a shame given the amount of fan support for the team.

How so? Vastly different from the big 12? I’ve not heard that.BIG recruiting and scholarship rules leaves BIG baseball teams at a huge disadvantage
The Big Ten doesn't allow oversigning like other conferences (not just the Big 12). This means when a kid decides to go pro out of high school but signed with a Big Ten team, he counts against the limit that season. How so? Vastly different from the big 12? I’ve not heard that.
There has been some talk this week by a couple of national college baseball websites about us having the possibility of hosting this year. A long ways to go before we get to that point, but if we do well the rest of the season, and win the conference regular season and/or tournament titles, we could possibly play ourselves into hosting. My impressions of the baseball team this year are that they are NCAA Tournament bound and a #3 seed feels about right I guess, but man I sure miss the days when we were talking about whether or not we'd get to host a regional. 2-2 in the 9th inning.Did we play against Iowa today? How did we do? Anybody got some stats on Schwollenbach for me?

Hosting will never happen as long as Erstad is in the dugout.
The guy can’t build up enough quality depth and struggles to develop a consistent offense.

At least that's how I understand it.
BIG recruiting and scholarship rules leaves BIG baseball teams at a huge disadvantage
The weather leaves BIG schools disadvantaged. Few if any recruits are going to opt to play in a climate that severally limits their development over a place that allows them to be outside working on their game year round. Likewise the best high school talent is coming from these baseball friendly climates.
The big ten is not a major division 1 baseball conference and therefore isn’t going to attract major division 1 baseball talent.
Agree on Palkert. It's turned from tough luck to a trend with him over the years.Poor coaching. We have 1 player who has more than 1 hit in the game. So what do you do as a coach? You take that player out. I mean it makes perfect sense. Then you put Robbie (I give away games alot) Palkert in to pitch to put his record at 1-3 now. If all we have for middle relief pitching is Robbie Palkert then we won't win a game in the B1G tourney. Its sad that Waldron has to pitch a complete game or have the lead in the 9th so Gomes can get a save. So frustrating.
Havent won a series against Iowa since before Heller took over the Iowa program.
Injury, then his mechanics went to hell. That guy has always been an adventure even when he's good. He has a ton of talent, but hasn't ever really put it all together.Agree on Palkert. It's turned from tough luck to a trend with him over the years.
This season, we have three conference losses so far. Two of them are walkoff losses with Palkert on the mound. (The third was also a tough-luck walkoff loss for Schanaman, who had two uncaught third strikes in the 9th in game 3 at Minnesota, including what turned out to be the game winner for the Gophers.)
Throw in Luensmann, what the heck has happened to that guy?

No. There has always been at least one at-large bid from the B1G every year since we've been in the conference and at least 2 in each of the last 4 years. There was one in 2012, 2013, and 2014, 4 in 2015, 2 in 2016, 4 in 2017, and 3 in 2018.Is the big 10 a 1 bid league?
Strang was the travel logistics to Corvallis for that 2017 regional: sharing a plane with Yale and Holy Cross.I'm less worried about which regional NU is assigned to than I am about getting through the 2 vs. 3 game. (I'm assuming the Huskers won't be a #4, since those usually go to small conference champs.) Corvallis was a tough draw in 2017, but it ended up being a moot point.
Ugh - Ben Norman with a 3-run bomb. 3-1 Hawks
Being down 2 with a Erstad offense feels like being down 6-7 runs at this point.
Oh my, that inning could have been so much more.Reverse jinx.
And all of Iowa's runs so far today have been scored with 2 outs today. And now they are melting down, Iowa 7-3.
Of course. Look at the opponent. Same thing every time.Complete collapse.
