West Rowan keeps getting the cold shoulder. That's fine. We will just keep winning in a much stronger conference and with a much more difficult nonconference schedule than most of these teams.

That's because Crest exposed this year! It's over for the power ponies! Their biggest goal now is not to let the first round streak end. I'll call it now. The state champions will be from the east in 3A and 3AA

Why do you let these polls bother you so much? It's just a poll... Don't worry about polls... Show up, play the game, and at the end of the year, no matter where polls say your team "should" be, you will be where your supposed to be...

Because teams like Hibriten who have 7 wins but 5 of which come from beating teams with two or less wins. How are they ranked best in the West by playing a cupcake schedule the first part of the year? I'm not saying they aren't the best in the West. I'm just saying I don't see it.

I get what you're saying.. I'm just saying don't get so worked up over a poll.. It's just a group of people's opinion.. It's means nothing..

Obviously the pollsters think Hibriten beating cupcakes is impressive. Who do you think is the best 3A team in the west?

Again I am not saying they are not the best. I was just wondering how these polls are determined. The next few weeks will determine the best in the west when a lot of the 3a west top teams play some very strong opponents.
And yes the polls don't really matter. As someone said they don't give out rings in October

Back in the spring and summer I send out a questionnaire for the coaches to vote on. We go by their selections to release a pre-season ranking. Yes, a lot of times your state powers get the benefit of the doubt because of tradition. As the season goes, early losses can effect teams. Now, that we are over halfway thru the season, the cream is rising to the top. There is no scientific way of being totally accurate. This poll is a lot like some similar rankings from various places.

I've done this kind of thing since 1998.

Hibriten plays Watauga, Tuscola plays Pisgah and Burns plays Shelby tonight all 3 should be telling games.

I agree. Not looking past East Rowan tonight, but our game next week when West Rowan rolls into Concord is massive. The SPC is on the line. If we win it pretty much gives us the conference because we will have the tie breaker against Concord and JM Robinson with Cox MIll and Hickory Ridge left to go. We could lose one of those games and still be SPC Champions.(Again there is a lot of football left to be played and anything can happen)
The jury is still out on my Falcons. We are as close to 100% health as you can get this time of year but all of that can change with just one hit. Our defense is very good and and our offense is starting to really come together. We have a sophomore QB who had never taken a snap of high school football until 4 weeks ago and a very young O-Line (only two seniors). I think we are coming together at the right time.
