Penn st only overtook Iowa because after Gable retired Iowa hired wrong coach and Penn st lured Sanderson away from Iowa st...and he took a whole bunch of good wrestlers from Iowa st including his brother and combined with Penn st to instantly have a great team.....then Penn st for years has poured money into the program and were able to come up with "extra" scholarships for wrestlers allowing them to build up a lot of depth (wrestling only allows 9 scholarships for 10 weight classes). Why as Penn State fallen off? Never thought Iowa would overtake them after their dominant run. OH/PA/NJ is a much richer recruiting ground than I.O.W.A.

Once Brands took over he started getting Iowa back....and obviously is back. Now you can go back obsessing on conjuring up attempts to marginalizing Iowa. (I.O.W.A....get a life)

No, he's mostly full of s***.Aint nobody doing "extra" scholarships right now. Not after all the scholarship and admission scandals.
The juice is not worth the squeeze right now, especially for sports that, for the most part, no one cares about.
The rest of you what you said is probably true.
Almost 100% full of ****. Wrestling is not a headcount sport. So even with 9.9 scholarships, you can give 50% scholarships to nearly 20 wrestlers. Because it’s not a headcount sport, academic scholarships and other scholarshipsCan be used to offset the cost of tuition and fees or room and board. No, he's mostly full of s***.
If Iowa returns all their AAs (which seems likely) they will be clear favorites to repeat. Iowa has more depth right now and Lee is a bonus point machine.Have a look at Penn State's roster. Loaded with Fresh, RFrosh, Soph and a few juniors. I suspect they're about to go on a tear again.
