The Mountain West was very overrated. The current quad rating system was made to help power conferences. Most power conferences rack up a lot of quad 1 wins in conference. The MWC was able to pull that off this season by having 4 decent teams.

Still, when a Sagarin #83 rated Wyoming gets an at large over a then #40 rated SMU, it exposes the flaw in the current system. The AAC was rated higher overall than the MWC on Sagarin, yet they got 4 bids to our 2 bids. After watching Memphis beat Boise, it only confirms my belief that the Sagarin ratings are better than the quad system used by the NCAA.
That was us a couple years ago when our team made it in with a high rating.

Good call Aston. That was the year with the Joe Castiglione on the committee assist. The difference was everyone was saying how much we didn’t deserve it, with one guy (Lunardi or Palm) calling it the worst at large pick in many years.

With Baylor & Kentucky both knocked out of the tournament, the East region is wide open for a low seed to make the Final Four.

I am not surprised Baylor lost this game...they've actually not been playing all that great for about the last month. I am surprised UK lost to St. Peter's. I had UK in the Final Four knowing Baylor's poor form.

And Creighton vs KU right now. This is the type of game Kansas likes to lose in the tournament. Creighton got a bunch of Dougie McBuckets wannabes hitting 3's like they're in a game of horse.

St. Peter’s has a long road ahead of them with Texas or Purdue and then UCLA or North Carolina

Refs doing everything they can to let Baylor back in this. Fouling all over the floor.

Historic collapse by NC however.
I don't disagree as anyone watching the game could see that Baylor was super aggressive.

But don't forget UNC has been getting the calls for 30+( or forever) years in this Tournament.

GO TU!!!

The Michigan and Memphis experiment of hiring NBA players and then hiring real coaches as an assistant working?

In Michigan case yes in Memphis no.

Is this the future of college basketball considering how NIL will be important to recruiting down the line?

Can Michigan's Bigs play that good going forward?

In game coaching still matters both Penny and Juwan made some mistakes down the stretch.

The Danny Manning experiment didn't work out at Wake.

interesting to me how this trend might play out.

Blake Griffin at OU, Marcus Smart at OSU, Paul Pressey at Tulsa LOL.

Time will tell.

Yep...

IL getting some unusual calls

Pretty sure IL politicians and/or go-betweens have greased the officials

It's an IL thing

Houston kicking the crap out of Illinois down the stretch. Really wonder if we ever considered Kellen Sampson or had at least a feeler out to him.

Memphis Isn’t kicking the crap out of anyone or at any time this year
Tulsa only lost by 2 points in their only meeting with Houston this year we played most of our games within 5 points close losses due to losing players to strict academics at tu just quoting our fired ex head coach it’s not wins or losses but how close you played so said horseshoes Haith

Seeding is always affected by conference affiliation but it seems to be more so this year than in recent years. As I mentioned on the conference board it boggles the mind that the NCAA created a metric to improve seeding then totally ignored it.

I don't like Sampson. But... he may be the best defensive coach in NCAA history.

Yep. Said it.

And Houston is fun to watch. Definitely a 2 or 3 seed. The 5 seed thing was as stupid as giving the MWC those 4 bids.

Never confuse me as a Houston fan and Sampson is annoying but....

ESPN BMI says #2

Sagarin says #4

Pomeroy says #2

NCAA Net says #3

NCAA Committee says #17-20. LOL
