I really hope Loyola holds on and beats Big 10’s Illinois. That said I looked at their schedule this year and thought they weren’t good enough to pull it off today.

No. I think they just didn't know where to seed them.

The bracket matrix which had over 200 brackets also had them as an average................8 seed.

So no one seems to really know where to place teams like this.
right. illinois vs loyola chicago. nothing to see here.

So what. They could have made them a 4 seed which would have been closer to their true seeding and still had the same matchup.

And u get things like this most years in the tournament because geography plays a role in where teams go. That's why we've seen WVU quite a bit in recent history. It happens.

they’ve been doing this for 40 years. not to just kentucky. they admit to matching up on purpose. buying in to the new “committee” process a bit too much here. if they all agree with something it’s that they want a good show.

I mean if the argument is they were seeded 8 and placed in Illinois region for ratings, then my argument is they could have done the same thing but made them a seed closer to their actual talent level.

They were an 8 seed not to pair them with Illinois. They were an 8 seed because ..........like WIchita St in 17......they don't know how to seed these teams properly.

This is like 2017 when Wichita St was our 2nd round game.

Overall 8th in Kenpom. 10th seeded lol.

We beat them but it was only a 3 point win.

It's just that they basically played one very good team in big 10 opponent Wisconsin. And lost by 14.

Committees can do good seeding teams when they play against a lot of good competition. But much less so when you don't really play anyone of note.

Yep I totally remember that when seeing the bracket saying WTF. I knew it be a tough game but most around here kept saying how it be an easy win.

Only listening to the radio while driving, I could tel how this game would go by the first tv timeout. Have seen this movie too many times. The most important trait in March is not X and O, it’s intensity. Which is why Calipari and Pitino have been so successful in the tournament. Going to be really hard for Illinois to win today.

I remember people commenting about that bracket complaining about us getting UCLA as the 3 seed and all I was doing was sitting here thinking........it's not UCLA I'm concerned about in that bracket lol

a whole round kind of makes a difference. but ok hold to your narrative that they don’t set these things up.

Aside from the greater chance of one team going home before then, it's really not.

But I get it. You're not the only one that believes they seed teams to generate ratings.

but your argument has more variation and is less likely to happen. you understand that right? i’m saying they do what they do so it will set up with high probability, not for the possibility.

We'll have to agree to disagree. It's all good. I know lots of people feel like they do these things intentionally.

I never believed that at all.

Not this season because they went straight S Curve but the big reason why you see teams playing rivals or teams located near each other is just because of the seeding rules the NCAA places on the bracket.

When you say well conference teams can't meet until such and such round but yet you want to keep teams (especially the lower seeded ones) closer to home, well that just naturally increases the odds of UK vs WVU or UK vs UL or UK vs Indiana. People will look at those brackets and think oh the NCAA did this on purpose. But it's just how things are setup with all the rules that makes these all the more likely to happen.

here’s the problem. they say it’s what they do. whether they have options is besides the point. if anything it helps that goal.

Reminds me that in 2018 Kentucky had the easiest bracket by seed ever to reach a final 4 and we were all so pissed when Kentucky got a 5 seed with #1 overall Virginia and a powerhouse #4 Arizona in our bracket.

12 Davision
13 Buffalo
9 Kansas State
11 Loyola

#1 seeds don't get that easy of a bracket

This game is over. Illinois not showing any life unless it’s through their big guy. Their guards are playing out of control and trying hero ball. More turnovers out of them than points it seems.

and seeding rules. again you’re looking at the small picture. go look at any bracket from the 80’s when none of those things applied. you have the same result of matchups and it’s clearly evident.

Even if they don't all play UIC has

6 Seniors
4 Juniors

That's out of 18 players listed on their ESPN roster

UK probably hasn't had 10 JRs and SR in the past 3 seasons.
