The committee needs to do a better job of seeding. Loyola should have been no lower than a four. I do appreciate this game but this game should be next weekend not the first weekend. This is not unlike us and Wichita State. Kentucky should have been a four

They have taken Illinois out of their game but, I expect the Illini to make adjustments and tire them out as the game progresses. You have to hand it to Moser though. His teams come ready to play.

Loyola 9th in kenpom yet 8 seed. Way under seeded team which hurts both themselves and Illinois. Not sure what the committee was thinking they should been a 6 or at worst 7.

Hell Loyola been much better off being an 11 seed. Maybe they pull a Northern Iowa but it will be sure tough vs Illinois.

The big for Loyola knows how to play basketball- refreshing to see - whole offense runs through him

The committee tends to do this with mid majors. They peg the power conference teams correctly but when it comes to these type of teams they generally have no clue on how to seed them.

Real shame this game is the 1st game of the 2nd round. It sure is a great game for all of us to watch but this is going to end up feeling like an Elite 8 game by the end.

Was just dreaming of us having a post that doesn’t stretch the floor who can still dictate offense like that after watching him. Some really nice elbow sets with him as the passer

He was part of their final 4 team in 2018 so he has the experience and won't be afraid of the moment

The only stat that Illinois has performed better in on the boxscore is UIC is 1-3 from the line and IU is 1-2 from the foul line

How do they call a foul on that ? He already had dunked and he touched his hand jesus. A free point for Illinois plus the foul on Krutwig.

This is like 2017 when Wichita St was our 2nd round game.

Overall 8th in Kenpom. 10th seeded lol.

We beat them but it was only a 3 point win.

It's just that they basically played one very good team in big 10 opponent Wisconsin. And lost by 14.

Committees can do good seeding teams when they play against a lot of good competition. But much less so when you don't really play anyone of note.

you don’t think they did it on purpose for ratings?

These type of teams provide some good evidence that the committee should at least have a computer component when seeding these teams. They don't have to go 100% in that direction, but you can't tell me this team is an 8 seed.

And they don't learn from year to year since the people in that committee room changes.

No. I think they just didn't know where to seed them.

The bracket matrix which had over 200 brackets also had them as an average................8 seed.

So no one seems to really know where to place teams like this.
