So what does the pack think the odds are of the committee “rewarding” us with an SEC opponent in the super regionals??

I’d say there’s probably a 75% chance they do that to us.

We know they will protect UCLA and Vandy and give them the easiest paths to Omaha.

My issue is we have played SEC teams the last two years in a row in Supers...on the road at that.

We we are projected to be top 3-4 National seed. It would be anything but rewarding by pairing us with another SEC school who we’ve already faced 3-5 times this season.

As for our regional next weekend, I’m sure the committee will send one of the stronger 2 or 3 seeds to Starkville because of course they will.

All while giving LSU their usual cupcake regional.

I get the ncaa wants diversity in Omaha if possible but ****, let LSU, Ole Miss, Arky and Georgia all duke it out in the Supers this year.

D1Baseball's latest projection confirms my fears.

They have us paired with the Baton Rouge regional.

I don’t mind being paired with LSU because voodoo witchcraft aside, I still think we are the better team this year and are more than capable of beating them in a Super. There are other teams out there that I am more scared of (namely Oregon State and Stanford). My issue with D1’s projection is LSU being one of the last 2-3 hosts and getting the SWAC team as their 4 seed while we get Jacksonville State, who will be one of the stronger 4 seeds out there this year. That would be some BS.

Oregon State's not the same this year.

and Stanford never really proved anything all year. I'd take either in a heartbeat over LSU. Also they have Arkansas at 5 paired with West Virginia, which I'd take.

LSU doesn’t scare me and it shouldn’t scare you. I’d love a LSU /MSU super regional in Starkville. Place will be nuts.

I'm not sure if they will match us up with LSU or not. I think it is just as likely that they will try to get it so that we match up in Omaha which would be a pretty epic CWS game. The committee typically doesn't like to match up teams that have already played at the same venue and LSU already had to play us in Starkville. I don't think it's impossible that they would match us up for a SR but it would actually go against what they have done in the past in some ways.

It may be a moot point to worry about who the other host site we are paired with is. Seems like every year close to half of the Top 16 teams don’t make it out of their own Regional. And we will be the favorite playing at home no matter what the pairing is.

I would NOT be surprised at all if it were LSU and possible even USM (an earlier loss)in the Starkville Regional.
Call it what you want but even though the team seems better than it has been in a long time, it just seems they are getting the worse brackets in the tournaments. Furthermore, I would not be surprised if it continued.
Still, this all began with the last game loss to South Carolina at home which prevented the sweep and the dominoes have fallen from there- so it’s consequential.

At the end of the day, doesn’t it all just matter on who the best team is? If we can’t pull it out against VoodooU or Oregon St, we don’t really deserve to be in Omaha. Basically, JUST WIN no matter the opponent.

Color me a coward then. Because LSU has owned us at Dudu Noble Field Polk Dement Stadium. I really, really don’t want to be paired with those ********. They simply have our number and they play well in Starkville. Give me anyone else.

This. It appears we are LSU's *****. May be partially mental at this point, but may also be they match up better against us than other teams not named Arky. There is no denying their dumb luck, so consistent it's as if a rabbit kicked them and broke it's foot off in their collective asses.

Why are so many of you saying this definitively? I get that D1 and BA said it. They have never done this before. Is it something to do with the new seeding?

It seems to me that if LSU hosts, they will likely not be seeded high enough to be paired against us, assuming that we are no lower than a no. 4 national seed. I don't see any way they should be a 13 or higher seed nationally. Their RPI is 16. Our's is 4.

Is what new to the seeding?

we are in the 3 or 4. They are in the 13 or 14. The committee is going to want that matchup

Do what now? You do know that they won’t put two SEC teams in the same regional correct?

You do know that the bracket in the SEC tournament is just a numbers game right? They don’t place us in one bracket or the other.

LSU will be a heavy favorite against their field of LA Tech, La Laf, and UNO.**

I can almost guarantee you their Regional will not be that difficult. They will have the equivalent of Three 4 seeds in their Regional.

We will probably get 3 Conference Champs from the Power 5 however.

Money runs the world. If the committee looked at the profitability side of it at all, they would try to get both State and LSU to Omaha. Throw in Arkansas, and nobody else would come close to bringing that type of money to Omaha.

I'm sure there are many who want nothing more than to see Stanford and UCLA battle it out in front of 5k fans, but that's not good for the local economy.

Ok coward. Last year, our SEC super regional opponent swept us at home and we played them on the road in the SR. How’d that turn out? And they were a 17 load better than this year’s LSU team. The bottom line is that we won 46 games. If we can’t play .500 ball at home in 6 games against a team that won 37 and finished 3 games behind us in the standings, then we don’t really deserve Omaha or anything else special that people believe this team to be capable of. We owe them some payback for 2 years ago anyways, and it would be an epic football Saturday atmosphere in Starkville for 48-72 hours straight. I say bring it on if it happens. Of course if its somebody else, I’m OK with that too. There are no easy paths to a national title.

I’d really like to be paired with a non sec team. Because I truly believe there are some teams that will step onto that field and see that crowd and be completely intimidated. LSU will not. And again, look at their record against us at dudy Noble. Again, call me a coward..... but two things I don’t want to see tomorrow: 1. Usm being in our regional. 2. Being paired with those dip ***** in red stick. I want a 17ing natty in baseball more than any sport. And i know to be the man you have to beat the man. But if those two things happen, it will make me very uneasy about our path. And no I’m not scared of the mustard buzzards..... but they are quite confident they can beat us and have a few times over the years (see last year) so I’d just simply rather have some other lower tier team rather than them. Because they do have the off chance of upsetting us in our own place.

They could easily be the 13-seed. They are 2+ spots in RPI ahead of Oregon State and OM, which makes them the 14th highest RPI of the named host teams. Half the board is going to call it a vast NCAA conspiracy if it happens, but strictly following the seeds you would very likely have a #4 MSU / #13 LSU matchup or a #3 MSU / #14 LSU matchup.
