They don’t use Kenpom metrics “ supposedly” . Which is why they have Houston as the #8 overall team in the nation. If they did they should’ve put Houston as a 1 seed.ioliva,
based off the eye test and kenpom metrics Houston is the strongest 2 seed so they go to the weakest 1 seed (Florida). Also, ioliva the committee also tries to avoid having teams be paired up in the same region when they have already faced each other twice in the regular season which Florida and Tennessee have already played twice and have the potential to play a 3rd time in the SEC Tournament.
Below is the committee's bracket from the reveal show. Duke's region is the Defensive Region
South (Atlanta):
1 - #1 Auburn
2 - #6 Texam A & M
3 - #11 Wisconsin
4 - #13 Texas Tech
Midwest (Indianapolis):
1 - #2 Alabama
2 - #7 Purdue
3 - #9 Iowa State
4 - #15 Kansas
East (Newark) aka The Defensive Region:
1 - #3 Duke
2 - #5 Tennessee
3 - #12 Arizona
4 - #16 St. John's
West (San Francisco):
1 - #4 Florida
2 - #8 Houston
3 - #10 Kentucky
4 - #14 Michigan
East is the Toughest Region here with the West being the 2nd Toughest
Agree. Was talking to a friend last week and told him I think it'll be Auburn, Houston or us to win it allIoliva,
Houston is the strongest 2 seed. I don’t know how much you’ve watched Houston, A and M, Purdue, and Tennessee this season but Houston is National Champion Good. Houston is better than Tennessee. A and M can defend but they re not good offensive team same with Tennessee. Purdue is the weakest 2 seed out of all of them.
Exactly right!!!Same Pisgah I am Confident Scheyer and Proctor haven’t forgotten about the game from 2 seasons ago.
I will save this quote for a later day lol.Yeah I’d take that bracket all day. As much as St John’s has been a cool story, they are not a threatening 4 seed in the sweet 16.
St John’s is definitely solid but looking at the current 4s, I’d rather them than Kansas or Michigan. Kansas still has a ton of talent (they are just off right now) and Michigan has two really good big men that i think could give us issues. Regardless, the sweet 16 is always tough!I will save this quote for a later day lol.
Again the committee is rating them as the 8th overall seed. #3 in Kenton but aren’t worthy of a 1 seed? This is why the committee bothers me. It isn’t consistent at all.Ioliva,
