I know basketball is different then football and all that...but I honestly think they need to in force the same rules college football players have. Play till your juniors and then you have the option to go pro or come back your senior year. Just my opinion though.

I don't disagree, but if they do that, they should also have the option of going pro out of high school like in baseball.

I just think they should stop being high and mighty hypocrites and acting like school has anything to do with the gigantic business of college sports they 'oversee' and profit from.

I agree, very similar to college baseball. If you get drafted or want to go play out of HS you have that option, but then if you enroll in college you cant get drafted again until Jr. year.

The average professional athlete barely makes enough over their 2 years to justify skipping college altogether. Most of that money is spent on agents, money handlers, housing, and the expenses associated with being young and suddenly wealthy. Most are done by the 2nd half of their 20s and going back to college may become an impossibility for a kid that skipped it in the first place. C A kid who has sat through economics, business, communications, sociology, science class is much more employable than a kid who barely has a HS education. Compare a former CF player with a 4 year degree vs. one w/o. The difference is night and day. The idea that education is overrated or not necessary anymore is farcical. Is college too expensive? Yes! Is the NCAA greedy? Yes! It still doesn't diminish the life changes that can happen when a person has a well-balanced education, and one they get for free.

Thats not really an NCAA rule though. The NCAA doesn't actually have any rules that say how long you have to stay before going pro in any sport, only what happens when you decide to do so.

The NFL is the one with a 3 years post highschool rule. The NBA has a 1 year post highschool rule, thus the 1 and dones in that sport.

Just let them go straight to the NBA... college or not, the players and the NBA as a whole will still suck.
