Crowd filled in quite a bit before halftime.
The break between sessions wasn’t really long enough to go eat and come back. I know downtown and we barely made it back for tip off.

Kind of weird being stuck 3 extra days on the West Coast trying to watch. Everything finishes so early!

BTW Southwest Airlines super sucks. I am A List, they canceled our flight home today, and no rebook until Monday. Kids miss school, I miss work AND my Sunday night BOK games. Never again with them. No compensation.

Thumbs up to the great folks at Marriott though. And Berkshire Hatheway travel protection - easy to work with.

SW air though - liars and incompetent.

Sorry for the digression...

Why do they have problems with the clock at the BOk? Seems like last time the NCAAs were there they had a problem then as well. Who runs this, the NCAA or does TU have anything to do with this?

Ummm...
I am fairly sure the color guy calling the unc and Iona game believes Iona is from the Mac conference

Not the Maac

He kept referring to tough Midwest kids in the Mac conference

That’s one thing I really like about living in the pacific time zone. All the games are over and there’s still time to watch other programs. Also I love Southwest.

Well they treated my family like garbage unfortunately. We were all shocked.

As for basketball, I am a night owl and accustommed to settling in late for tourney games. By the time we got settled in at the hotel it was all over!

City of Tulsa loses tons of money on Iowa State loss. Many of the thousands went home. Ohio State has about 200. Building would have been near capacity Sunday with Iowa State.

I thought it was really suspect of Iowa State not to double the big guy on Ohio State. He scored at will on the low block. Buffalo was the superior team of the day. Their game with T Tech Sunday should be really good. Houston should destroy Ohio State if they play their normal game.

Agreed!
Iowa State had a ton of fans there. Made for a great crowd.

I was telling my son the same thing 10 minutes ago about Buffalo and the UH/Ohio State matchup.

Buffalo looked great and ISU was too finesse to handle Ohio St, the refs let them play(almost too much), and they never doubled the Ohio St big for some reason.

Had some great older Tech fans next to us that were very knowledgeable about the bracket and had tons of questions about TU and Tulsa. They thought TU played there and were surprised about downtown. Said they thought Tulsa was more like Lubbock.

I’m looking forward to Sunday!

I will say though... the BOK Center severely needs to update their main video board and stats software.

The monitors are small and the only basic stats they show look like an original Atari graphic. Nothing player numbers and the most basic stats and the video boards are 27
Inch TV comparable. They do the job but just barely.

No stats shown on the banner around the lower deck either. The upper desk has room for a banner that would be helpful for that if the NCAA has restrictions on what is on the lower banner.

I get they don’t do a lot of sports but the video and stats are embarrassing.

TU has the best board. Agree BOK needs upgrade or it will turn into Mabee Center board.

Also the NCAA should allow the same streamer of games being played on our televisions to be streamed on the circular boards in the arena where they currently put erratic scoring updates.

TUs scoreboard is better than the one in Chesapeake Arena too. They may be limited in what they can do in places like that because they use the venue for so many other types of events

RANT INCOMING: I love the TU scoreboards overall but I absolutely hate the screens facing the ends being a different format than the sides. It results in graphics being cut off and the video not always being useful. For what it cost I think that is a very poor design.

Wofford and Murray State just didn’t have balanced scoring like Buffalo can arrange. Haven’t seen Cal Irvine yet.

Did Rippin it OriginalTulsafan hijack your account? I’d venture a guess that our scoreboard is one of the top 10-15 in college basketball. Yeah, the format is not the same as you get if you bought an expensive seat. It’s still a freaking awesome scoreboard.

Wofford’s shooter had a bad day. Reminded me of our game against North Carolina. Worst shooting day of the season. Despite him having a very subpar game, Wofford was still in the game until the very end and had a shot with under a minute left.

Florida State was just a bad matchup for Murray State. I have a feeling they both played similar styles of attacking basketball, Florida State just had more horses and height to do it.

Hollywood has used 3 timeouts in the first 10 minutes. Kansas down 15 at the under 8. KU is defending the 3 like we used to...they’re not.

Wife walks in and looks at the score and says “This is why I picked Auburn to go to the sweet 16. Kansas does this every year.” I think I picked a different team to be in the sweet 16 in this one too.

The first 2 games today were great games, the last 6 have been dogs. All blowouts

Looks like Auburn is going to be the only lower seeded team to win today. A 5 seed Auburn is the only 'upset' all dammed day long. Hope tomorrow is better or the only upset seed in the sweet 16 is going to be UC Irvine/Oregon.

What's NOT to complain about?
JMJ... any other fan base would be demanding resignations from the President, to the AD and, in particular, the HC's.

JMJ.

Tulsa's expectations are pathetic.
Was referring to your complaint that the tournament was dull.

This is Buffalo's (TU vs Cincy 2000) game today against Texas Tech. We were a seven seed that year and Buffalo a six seed this year but so many similarities.

It’s not even a D1 scoreboard!!!!!!!1111

Seriously though, I love the board. My rant had more to do with the company that make it and having a rough idea what they cost. It’s disappointing they didn’t come up with a more creative solution to keep the display ratio the same on all 4 sides.

Back to Kansas - we need Bill Self’s Hairpiece to chime in on his future plans.

When Kansas fires him, perhaps he can come back to TU where we’ll pay pretty well to provide a mediocre product.

Bill isn't getting fired, he's riding out of town as the marshals ride in.

He'll head to the NBA and hope the FBI doesn't have anything serious to follow him there with.

my rant has to do with the standard food options at BOK. Only Billys has nice grilled burgers, chicken and a ribeye (with horseradish), but the only sides available are fries and onion rings (both yummy but some of us can't eat fried foods). After that it's pizza, dogs, tacos, nothing. desserts are limited to nuts and dipping dots.
I missed it if there was a salad or fruit available.

There is a food court on maybe the N side???? It has some different options I believe. I think the food selection is pretty good. The pizza place, papa johns??? Has a good brownie.
