Since Rutgers would almost certainly host the opening NIT rounds if that’s where we end up, will tickets be on sale soon through RU? I don’t remember exactly how this happened the last time we made the NIT. As for the NCAAs, has anyone received word on opportunities to buy through RU? Thanks.

in the past I believe season ticket holders would have already received some sort of contact about hosting NIT games. I do find it odd there has been nothing as of yet. Hope they are not dropping the ball. I realize football season tix are due but this is something you want worked out soon

The ticket office doesn't know how to deal with more than one thing at a time.

its sad but true and why would they actually make season tickets due around the early March period. Shows how little regard they have for future planning of hoops post season. In the past football was due in April/May. Also the scheduling of high school playoff games the same night as NCAA selection show is just bad foresight. Could ruin a possible huge celebration at the RAC that day. Sometimes you have to act like a winner and clear dates.

Yup...I’m 100% certain that we are in no way, shape or form, prepared to sell post-season tickets. ZERO QUESTION!!!!!!!!!

(heave dose of sarcasm there fellas...)

...and you don’t dump the state tournament games. Sorry. While it would certainly be nice that’s just not happening. Now maybe they could figure out a way to adjust the schedule a bit that day?

they never should have been scheduled that day...any idiot could have realized that....have them Saturday, it could have easily been worked out.

A selection show get together doesn’t need to be at the RAC. I’d imagine it would be in the practice facility or one of the other areas on campus depending on how many people they wanted there.

I guess we are still planning on being securely in by selection Sunday to gripe about not having a party . If you’re on the bubble you don’t have a fan fest etc .

RU hasnt been to the tourney in 29 years...IF it appears we have locked up a bid, it needs to be a big party which means all invited not some posh event where only the top 100 donors and those who are not even hoops fans get to go to so Hobbs can look like a star

Rutgers should say NO to NIT.. oops.. I said espn owns it... they suck... but someone below pointed out the NCAA owns it.. the preseason NIT is ESPN

The idea is that the NCAA might help influence the selection committee to have certain bubble teams in the NIT.

Yeah but does it look like we will have bid locked up by selection Sunday ?

If we win the next 2 games then you have it in the barn with some big screen projectors, a classic arena perfect capacity for this type of event, brings in the history, students would show up, and everyone can go party on college ave after at the bars and eat downtown

you are correct sir, I got confused by the preseason NIT thing.. my bad

its too bad, I had hoped that one day, competition for the NCAAs could return... it was nice for the power conferences to have that option... I suppose the still could just start their own tournament

Please. You take what you get. Remember what catapulted UConn to years of national prominence and four NCAA championships?

Yep you got it. A NIT Championship.

Who was the sophomore guard on that team? Pike

So yeah, sure we'll turn it down.
Are you suggesting that the NIT did that for them? Or maybe it was all the work they did to make a team capable of winning the NIT.

Well they're not on sale for either tournament with our last home game being played tonight, so it doesn't appear the ticket office is prepared at all. They could have at least put NIT tickets on sale tonight at the RAC (with a full refund guarantee, of course) and handed out NCAA ticket applications to season ticket holders to boost sales. There's no evidence this is happening and you certainly didn't present any, so it looks like the ticket office is blowing it as usual.

Edit: The only one in this thread who looks "absurd" is you for defending the indefensible.

Everything's electronic these days. For season ticket holders they can send us on an e-mail on March 16, we pay online, and use the ticket lanyards we've used all season. Non-season ticket holders can choose seats online, pay, and have electronic tix scanned at door as always. No need to wait in line on Monday morning and pick up paper tickets like old days. The only thing that would require a little bit of coordination could be parking passes.

Just because we don’t see it out in the open doesn’t mean it’s not being done. We all know people would be freaking out if RU was openly selling NIT tickets right now saying that even our own department doesn’t believe in the team and our own department is jinxing the team.

regarding the tournament, schools get less than 500 tickets allotted to them. I’m sure the school wants to give some to students, so you can’t really go all out with a sale there yet either. Things can be planned out internally, ready to hit send, without us knowing all of the details.

In the past i believe they took a refundable deposit..there was at least a communication with how the process would work

Can't speak about how it's handled with women's basketball, but our last post season for men was 14 years ago and a lot has changed since then with the advent of electronic tix now. Shouldn't require much.

And like the other poster said, if Rutgers was talking about NIT everyone would be freaking out in a negative way.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Everyone hang onto their plastic after the season.

This is absurd. Neither tournament starts for 2 weeks. If you want to think that they’re not preparing, go ahead and be my guest, but odds are very likely that you’re dead wrong.

BTW...NCAA allotments will likely get sold out through season ticket holders alone. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist To figure out that, if you don’t get through our allotment (1st and 2nd round) you simply go online and buy them.

Let's hope the "in" crowd doesn't get the strong hold on tickets before long suffering fans who have put up with losing for years.

It’s gonna be based on points, just like bowl games, you’ll be fine. Again, otherwise, first and second round sites don’t necessarily sell out instantly IF at all. Getting tickets shouldn’t be a problem unless they put us, Seton Hall, and Penn State, all in Albany.

Weeks ago the ticket office told me that an email will go about the time of the March 7 Purdue game to season ticket holders to see their interest in tickets & will be sold to those by priority. Some of you are getting too upset over nothing. Some of us will be at the BIG Tournament and will need to get tickets for the NCAA if we make it. First round games for an NCAA game are usually very much available at the site but if we make it and Albany is our destination it could be difficult if SHU and us are both there.

Outside of NCAA holds, Albany is already sold out. I’d expect the NCAA to release some of their seats to the public closer to the games, but there’s not going to be much available there at all.

Of course it is, not surprising at all, but the majority those tickets are currently in the hands of brokers and what not knowing full well that there has been a good chance all season long the teams like SHU, Penn State, and us - as well as other small local teams - could end up playing there, all with large fan bases which have relative easy access to the site And have tons of alumni in the New York City region they could travel there very easily.

Again...if you don’t know how to get tickets this day and age, online, well that’s on you lol!

BTW - Depending on how things end up falling out of Albany may have the best 6-game atmosphere of all 1st/2nd round sites.

the silence is failure on the part of the ticket office and athletic department

Sorry, don't agree and failure is a strong word. Not sure what difference it makes. If you had to pre-order and they'd mail your Tickets for Game 1, Game 2, etc. then it would make sense but it's 2020. I went to our Big Ten Tournament games at MSG and when we'd win one night, I'd go online on my phone and buy tickets for the next night's game. I don't want to hear about NIT. Everyone knows "post-season" for the RAC = NIT.

a heads up would be nice....like ANYTHING....

We are still 8 days from the Big Ten’s...my guess is “info” starts going out this coming Monday the latest.

Listen u get the pessimism but this isn’t “your father’s Rutgers” anymore...although I’m hoping he grabs a ticket for me lol!!!
