Didn’t watch a second of Charlotte last year, but if Ball is, well, ball-heavy, I too don’t see it working with Edwards, another guy who wants the ball in his hands.

The balls like to pass the ball. Mello has a ugly looking game but it works somehow. He's a all-star player. He's just flashy and goofy.

I think it looks like a good trade for Minnesota in terms of exchange of value. They add a borderline all star guard who’s only 24 and only give up a backup big and distant draft picks.

it all depends on how La Melo and Edwards fit together. It could look brilliant if they mesh, giving them the league’s most talented backcourt combo with both guys around the same age and entering their prime together.

Another odd trade that im not sure is going to do a whole lot for either teams.

Wolves now have a very nice backcourt. But now they are thin at front court, they traded away assets, and Lamelo has very spotty ankles.

And Charlotte kind of giving up on Lamelo a little early. Not sure what they were thinking. They didnt get much in return.

Someone said it better "which team lost the trade? Both of them" lol.

They got rid of Randle too.

Don’t you know Donte would love to get back to the Knicks?

Man if im the Knicks, im seeing if Twolves would be willing to deal. Its not like guard minutes are gonna be any easier to come by now that they added Lamelo and got rid of Naz. Donte cant be thrilled about this.

They do dumb things. They wasted a top 10 pick on Dillingham. Is he even still in the league?

Man I loved that pick at the time. Hes definitely still in the league, but its not looking great. I thought hed have shown more by now. Problem is a lot of guards in his way.

Someone is Minnesota will be fired before the year is up. I can't stand Ball and the way he plays. This will NOT work with Anthony Edwards.

Yeah idk what they are thinking. I guess they play good team defense and his offense will help make up for it but they gave away Randle for free which was dumb. I know it was to shed salary but get rid of Gobert. Dude will never win a ship, he can’t do anything other than play defense. I just don’t see it.

Ball could be a spot up shooter but he does have a high usage rate. It will be a two man show for sure at best. Nobody else will see many shots.

LaMelo Ball operates with a slightly higher usage rate than Anthony Edwards. Ball consistently hovers around a 31.0% usage rate as a primary playmaker, whereas Edwards maintains a 31.2% usage rate as a volume scoring wing.

One of the closest example I could find of a back court with similar usage rates would be 2019 Houston. Very few teams in history have ever had two guards who averaged over 60% usage rate combined.

The Historic 2019-20 Houston Rockets
  • James Harden: 36.3% Usage Rate
  • Russell Westbrook: 30.2% Usage Rate
  • Combined Output: 61.5 points per game
We all know how that worked out, solid team, but couldn’t win big in the post season. That team beat a mediocre OKC team in 7 games before losing to the Lakers in 5.

No idea why the Hornets traded Ball. When he played they was a surprisingly decent team. They needed a legit PF and C and they would have been fine.

Love the Morant trade for the Blazers. They essentially gave up nothing for a young guard who was a 20-10 player before all the stupid gangster stuff came along. Low risk-high reward.

"when he played" carries a lot of weight here. I assume they thought they wouldn't get many more years out of him like this year and sold high.

I could see Lebron fitting in at the 4 for the Spurs for a couple years while their young fours(JQ and Malik Brown) get healthy and coached up.
