I heard that instead of a supplemental draft, their first team will be made up entirely of Shawn Kemp's kids.I hear they’re actually going to be named the Detlef Schrempfs.

Just because it’s an NBA thread and this is amazing:
It feels unfortunately like you are right. And has there ever been an all time great less appreciated than him? Tim Duncan, maybe? That's my guy. I've never enjoyed watching a player more than Joker. I'm so glad the Nugs won a title, because they're going to waste the rest of his career.

I know the tanking is bad for the league, and there are probably some effective methods to curtail it, but I also don't think we'll see anything like this again for quite some time. This draft class is just so loaded. We’ll see what this anti-tanking proposal in May is but adding 2 teams also means 2 more teams will openly try to lose games from January-April and that is a huge issue
The games are getting significantly better as everybody is jockeying for playoff position. And the playoffs are just a different game altogether. I wil argue against the “no defense” thing to a point, but it is admittedly nowhere near as intense as it will be in the playoffs. And everything else you said is spot on.Lots of things can be true simultaneously about the NBA.
Is it as good as it was during the Jordan era? Not in my opinion. It's become a glorified three point shooting contest with limited defense.
Is it still fun to watch? Absolutely. The skill levels of these guys are off the charts. It's kinda ruined college ball for me because of all the turnovers, missed shots, and lack of execution at the college level. That stuff happens at the pro level too, but not as dramatically.
My biggest complaint about the NBA today (outside of the shot selection and lack of physicality and defense) is the tanking and load management. The NBA has to get a handle on that stuff. Nobody wants to to spend $750 to take a family to an NBA game and watch the stars sitting due to load management.
My ways to fix the NBA:Lots of things can be true simultaneously about the NBA.

Unfortunately they will never shorten the season, just like MLB will never shorten their season. Too much lost revenue. My ways to fix the NBA:
1. Either move 3-point line back a foot and don't shorten it near the sidelines (yes, this eliminates the shot from the corner, it's just too easy for these players) or eliminate it completely. Alternatively, someone said if they changed the current 2-point shot to 3 points, and the current 3-point shot to 4, it would throw the analytics back to favoring the shots inside the arc. Seems crazy, but I think it would work.
2. Shorten season to about 60 games.
3. Big monetary bonuses for teams making playoffs. Every team not making playoffs has equal chances for the first draft picks.
Of course they'll never do any of those things. Might lengthen the 3-point line a little, but probably not a foot or eliminate the shot in the corner.Unfortunately they will never shorten the season, just like MLB will never shorten their season. Too much lost revenue.
Shortening the season suuuucks as an option. My ways to fix the NBA:

I don't think so. Duncan got plenty of laurels, he just had no personality. Joker has a great personality but doesn't give a damn about being accessible. I love him and his terrifying brothers. It feels unfortunately like you are right. And has there ever been an all time great less appreciated than him? Tim Duncan, maybe?
Lengthening the 3 point line won’t do anything. The analytics won’t change much.Of course they'll never do any of those things. Might lengthen the 3-point line a little, but probably not a foot or eliminate the shot in the corner.
It would have to be substantially longer. Theoretically, they could lengthen it enough to change the analytics. But they won't. Maybe 6 inches longer, and as you say that won't change anything (and that is NOT what she said).Lengthening the 3 point line won’t do anything. The analytics won’t change much.
Besides 2024 I’d say each class has been really good in the 2020s. I get what you’re saying but every year there’s good players and teams still find ways to tank I just think it’s been magnified this year by people in the mediaI know the tanking is bad for the league, and there are probably some effective methods to curtail it, but I also don't think we'll see anything like this again for quite some time. This draft class is just so loaded.
It's not fun to watch. Simple as that. There's nothing as pretty as a good pull up mid-range jump shot or working the ball inside for a good shot. But now it's just a glorified game of H-O-R-S-E.So what is it about 3 point shooting that puts yall into a fit of rage?
I’m sorry but mid range jumpers are boring as 17.It's not fun to watch. Simple as that. There's nothing as pretty as a good pull up mid-range jump shot or working the ball inside for a good shot. But now it's just a glorified game of H-O-R-S-E.
I agree with this sentiment.Lots of things can be true simultaneously about the NBA.

Well I don't think that's as big of an issue on these rim runs as it is on these step back three point shots. Just some egregious traveling going on. James Harden perfected it. I also think the "eurostep" has been given too much liberty. We want offense, but there are rules, too. Fundamentals are fundamental.Also-people who complain about lax traveling calls(nonexistent)-do you not want to see world class athletes eye level with the rim on the way to a monster dunk ? That’s an old man argument. Offense is what people come to see.
How about reversing it to 3 points inside the line and 2 points outside? Could be interesting
The 3pt and 2pt shots need to flip then. Anything INSIDE the arc is worth 3.It's not fun to watch. Simple as that. There's nothing as pretty as a good pull up mid-range jump shot or working the ball inside for a good shot. But now it's just a glorified game of H-O-R-S-E.
