Actually, 3 from Richmond signed. WR Ellerbe, RB Goodwin, & DB Skinner.

Really disappointed though. Thought this NEW coach was supposed to help more kids get in college.

Too bad they All didn't sign D-1.

Raiders had way more sign last year. Heck, we had 2 WR's sign on Signing Day last year. New pass happy Offense didn't get kids in college I guess. Where's Calhoun?

I just haven't been as pleased with NEW coach as some. When Castellano leaving? You know Denson trying to wait him out. Got to get politics in order.

Scotland had Leak (WR), Breeden (OL), McMillan (OL), & of course Smith - UNC (LB) sign.

My sources say a few others (WR, DB, & DL) may sign soon. Best info I could get.

Wow is right. I get what RaiderDaddy is getting at. I use to read on here all the time how some Raider fans complained about number of guys signing on Signing Day. They complained about Hoggard and he got more guys signed than this crap today. They complained how he didn't get boys enough exposure. Now all of a sudden it's Not the Coaches job to get kids recruited. Some folks talk out both sides of their mouth. Guess it just depends on who your drinking buddy is.

LOL king, I see what you did there.

I've often heard an assistant left over from the previous coach's regime was trying to slide his way in. After reading this thread, I now know who. Wonder if Coach C knows he has a mole with a knife in the fold?

Save it for the uninformed dcov. Last time I checked, Clemson, Air Force, Wake Forest, ECU, Charlotte, Wofford, UNCP, App State, SC State, NC Central, Wingate, Guilford, Catawba, NC Weslyan, Fayetteville St, etc wasn't juco. In fact, I can't remember last Raider to go the juco route.

I wouldn't count on Coach C being at Richmond to see the Freshman class thru.

I haven't been on in a while and I see some things never change. Just to clarify a couple of things that I know for sure. I was personally in a meeting with Coach Hoggard and he did state that it was up to the kid when it came to recruitment and getting signed. That is a fact. I'm not on here to bash or talk \bad about the man but dang when will some of you people let the Hoggard days die? News flash, he is no longer the coach so why not support who is here no matter who the coach is. DCOV is correct that 99% of the time a D1 kid is recruited before his senior year and as far as Coach C, I know for a fact that he is doing more for my son to get him in a good college. Just tonight, he received two calls from coaches that are interested in him. Hell at least Coach C give him a chance to play this past season to show his talent. Just a dang shame it was his senior year. I know some will come back with smart tail replies but I for one don't care because I know the facts, not hear say!!!!! Good night!

One thang that I like about you Mr. Raiders14 is that you wake up all the Raider Zombies. You kinda remind me of Winnie The Pooh sir.

When you speak, the rest is history and it ends up looking like this: You lead, zombies follow even in the off season.

Matter of fact go back and ask former Hog players that was informed by him that if you have not pass your SAT's I am not sending out any game films. Majority of those players you name I promise you coach Hog did not have anything to do with it, esp Wake Forest, I think his dad took him to camps..

Unreal... Guy didn't get there until August. Had to hire a coaching staff and then get his team ready for season. News flash for you geniuses. Most of your recruiting takes place between the off season of your sophmore and junior season.

How about you guys give this coach more than 7 months on the job before you judge him on the amount of kids going to play ball in college. Lol

How many Richmond players have had the talent to play D1 football but did not qualify? That is one of the biggest issues with getting players in school. Not qualifying for D1 schools often leads to D2 or JUCO. Not as much money is available to cover a full ride at the lower level but I have known players that went D2 and never paid a penny.

If a coach pushes players that are not qualified to recruiters and the player is not truly at that level as a player or does not have the ceiling or is not academically viable it will hurt the coach and future players long term. It is a very fine line between helping and hurting.

I doubt Edenton Holmes is going to have many players any year that are going to play college football.

A couple more will sign in days to come....There was NOT a lot of D1 talent on the 2015 football team....Congratulations to the 3 that signed on day one, they will be missed...They will be about 6 players signed , that is 1/4 of the starters getting college scholarships...I dont care what anyone says , to me that is a SUCCESSFUL YEAR....and not all 22 starters were seniors.......So really about 1/3 of the starting seniors got scholarships , which makes it even better.....Any assistant coach who does not have aspirations of being a Head Coach one day should find another job...I think Denson or Swinney , the hold overs as you say, will both make fine Head football coaches one day....Lets not judge Coach C just yet....We did get to the 3rd round......Making it to Thanksgiving is really big in 4AA football...Is it August yet....nuff said....

I have suddenly felt the presence of Go_Scots and have acknowledged that he has much to say about said subject.....A LOT. Something is holding him from posting.
Give him peace, freedom and faith and the agony will soon come out

The thing I liked is that the Journal said the group had an average of 3.1 on their GPA. Western Carolina has an up an coming football program and I look for Ellerbe to be a big part of that. Over the years athletes from Richmond have done very well at WC. Remember they also signed one of our baseball players last year. Athletes from Richmond County have always done well at WC. Old school but believe it or not two Richmond County Basketball players are in the WC hall of fame. One is in the top ten in both scoring and rebounding. In fact despite the fact that he played many years ago he still holes the rebounding record there. The other one is number two or three in scoring and he played before the three point shot. Both of them played Pro basketball. There are others from RC that played there and have done well. I know this is a football board but just want to point out what a good school WC is and that you can do well for yourself going there. I think Ellerbe has a lot of talent and would have done alright at a bigger school. However I think this is a good fit for him.

Very, VERY big congratulations to all these young men chasing a dream but also earning a quality education in the process. I always get excited for these young men around this time, regardless of team.

One thing was Hoggard refused to send the kids to the camps! He was not happy when Crowders parents sent him to camp and look what happened he went D1!

I know that's NOT anywhere near the truth Raiders2014.

I've never understood why some Raider fans had so much disdain for Paul Hoggard. He is one of the most respected coaches in the state of NC. He was part of State Championships at Richmond & is a fine upstanding Christian man.

Maybe the latter is the problem. Richmond has slowly become morally corrupt and to outsiders looking in and / or visiting the school system this has become obvious.

Crowder was going D1 regardless. Period. Some staff members took him on college visits. Did some players not refuse to go to camps, the Shrine Bowl combine, and opted not to play in games when cleared by medical personnel. I have heard that from many people.

The GPA is impressive this season and the one thing that I see holding kids back every season at many schools. One thing I have been told by an FCS assistant is that many of Richmond's players that they would be interested in cannot qualify academically. Think back about players that many were surpised that the player did not go to college or ended up at a D2 school instead of an FCS. Those are often due to academics.

I for one have a lot of respect for Coach Hoggard , always have and always will......I totally disagree with what you say about morally corrupt......I dont think anything is going on at RSH that is not going on at any school that size...I think the present administration is doing a good job of maintaining a good learning environment....Times have certainly changed ..It still blows my mind that you have to have uniformed officers at public schools....even Middle schools......I dont recall RSH being on the front page of the paper or on the local news about morally corrupt things happening on campus...nuff said...

What?
Do you attend football games Raiderstud...I know the answer is YES
Do you not see fights?
Have you not seen guns?
Has there never been glass broken in cars due to violence?
Do parents not get in childish fights themselves?
Ignorant parents coming on to a coaches face about their kid?
A grown woman fighting with a high school female?

AND THE LIST GOES ON..............

WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?
