Wasn't all that impressed with Cece's rendition, seemed to abruptly end the words. Don't get me wrong, strong voice and a beautiful singer. Just didn't make my arm hairs stand up. My all time favorite was Whitney Houston at the 1991 Super Bowl.

At the risk of being labeled a communist, am I the only one that thinks it is a little bit odd to sing the National Anthem before the NFL draft?

Before anything really...just completely unnecessary ...Super Bowl or National Championships sure but other than that just play the game. I love how Euro soccer says the game starts at 7 sharp and at 7 sharp they are off. If you really want the faux patriotism do it 30 minutes before start of play.

I agree with you 100%. They only started making the teams be present on the field when they did it after 2008 in the NFL, if memory serves, and it has to do with a gigantic, lucrative contract the NFL signed with the DoD. Before that, players were not required to be present for it, and often were just in the locker room.

Considering the reason for it, and how STUPID people acted about people kneeling in protest during it, I'd prefer that they reverted back to their old policy, or left it out unless it were just for a championship game or some bigger event.
