Well the topic was thoughts and prayers by the OP but we are talking about a transgender person that shot and killed some children. If you want to discuss sexual assaults in churches, happy to actually join forces with you but I wasn't aware it was part of the conversation. Personally, I don't go to church but happy to chuck sexual predators in jail the same as I am transgender shooters that target shooters. Make sense?
I think the issue is a bunch of ******** have pushed the boundaries for several years now and most of America continued to move the line in the sand to accommodate but the line has been moved too many times and the average American has had enough now. This is less and less about politics despite dick pic's strong effort to make it so even though I've seen him and others blame Republicans for this actual incident as well as others.
The consensus after the Uvalde shooting and the Buffalo shooting as a response from the American people was that it was sickening and if they aren't already dead, they should be at first possible opportunity.......the response post Nashville from the media, some folks on this board and the whitehouse has been that he/she was a victim too and we shouldn't rush to judgement, alas a National Holiday. What message do you think that is sending?
In no way shape or form am I suggesting that all Transgender affiliated people are going to shoot anyone, but I am asking why is it wrong to put this man/lady in the same bucket as the other psychos that decide to kill other people instead of simply taking their own lives? Evil is evil, regardless of sexual orientation, race, religion or gender.
There are two things I have issues with that I want to address.
1. No one, as far as what i've seen in the media, has framed the shooter as the victim. Is there an article out there that says that? Yeah probably, but I don't tend to recognize shock articles as worth my time. What I've seen is the media say that the trans community might be under attack following this shooting. There is a difference between the two, and I find it hard to believe you can't recognize that difference.
2. Bringing the person's gender identity into question doesn't really serve a purpose unless you think that they committed this mass murder due to the fact that they're transgender. Did them being transgender increase the likelihood that they'd commit a mass murder? Was the shooting prompted due to violent bullying they received bc they were "different?" Idk any of these answers, and I'm hoping the manifesto, if they ever release it, will shed some light on the possible reasons behind the shooting.
The church comment was strictly meant to point out the hypocrisy in how the media has framed this. One drag show has a performer do something they shouldn't have, and now all drag shows in some states are under threat to be banned. Where's the same passion about protecting children from the dangers of the church?
This is all rhetorical, and not necessarily the best comparison, but it's the first that popped in my head when I hear about the fight against the trans community "for the sake of the youth."
