I ruptured my Achilles. It felt like someone hit me in the back of the leg with a stick. Yeah, it did hurt eventually hurt but tearing my ACL...that hurt like hell. If you rupture your achilles, your foot is basically dangling because there's nothing to connect to your heel.
There are different levels of Achillies injuries, I know as it was that injury that stopped me from playing basketball, I never ruptured it but I strained it and the difference between a torn and strain is night and day, you rupture it you're getting carried off the court/field and you're talking about 9-12 month rehab, it might be the worst kind of injury a middle age person could go through, worse than a torn rotary cuff.
But after I strained my Achillies I got it healed and still took to the court all the while popping my calf muscle on one leg, it became chronic and realized it was all connected, sooner or later I was going to rupture the Achillies and I stopped playing. Sucks because I miss pickup games.
