I think we give Joe one more season but changes are made with special teams and strength coach. This year we were really stuck between a rock and hard place with depth issues and suspensions. Plus to add LSU is a much better team than we are use to. I also believe joe needs to quit being so buddy buddy to his players and show some hardass moments in practice and games.

Special teams for sure. I was just wondering the other day what kind of conversation does Cohen have with Joe at the end of the season? Does he give him an ultimatum and leave Joe to figure out how to get it done or does he highlight specific staff changes he wants to see? Gotta think the IB will be blunt and to the point.

If you have to highlight specific staff changes, you should just go ahead and fire the head coach. Or fire the AD for micromanaging his employees.

What kills me more than anything is this formation joe runs it’s a 4 wideout look with a runningback in the backfield but all the wideouts are tucked close to the offensive line. It’s joes Brandon Holloway up the middle play and I don’t think we ever gain any yards in this formation but we use it so often. Kills me

The main problem isn't with our other coaches, or Joe's schemes, or game management, or any of that. It's with the way he handles the team Sunday through Friday. He's soft on the team and tries to be a "player's coach" thus losing the respect and discipline that a SEC team must have to compete on game day. Unless he alters his personality to conform to what these players need in a leader to be successful (not only on the field but in life as well), then this team will continue to backslide. Do y'all realize that the team didn't even train on the South Farm before the season? By all reports, whatever preseason prep they did do was a walk in the park compared to season's past. If you listen to the team's alum that are still close to the program, they seem to all have the same sentiment.

Also, I'd say Joe's seat is getting warm due to the fact that his coaching style, when it comes to discipline, is opposite of IB's; and that guy hates to lose, no matter the reason.

I'd love to see the stats on this formation. I definitely remember seeing us run it when it's "something" and short. And it seems to work well. Maybe the whiskey is clouding my memory here, but I don't recall having the same consternation about this formation like I did about some of Mullen's tendencies (Holloway up the middle, for example).

We need a GA that is responsible for time management. His one and only job is to keep Joe aware of the clock.

I'm wondering if Joe has no idea of when the clock is supposed to start running after a KO. Saturday was not the first time we have had clock issues after receiving a kick.

Against UK we had a lot of success with that type of formation. It was almost a diamond formation, with outside receivers on the line, and the inside receivers back in the backfield. That was a formation we don't use a whole lot but it was working against UK. Kind of like the RB motion play we used against Auburn last year with so much success, but then didn't see much of after the LSU game.

I can only assume that Joey Jones brings something of value to the staff other than coaching, because the mistakes on special teams are really frustrating. Get the right guys out there, get lined up correctly, and execute the damn play. I don't mind bad kicks or even fumbles, just don't keep racking up pre-snap penalties. And our kick returners should fair catch more often.

You are correct on both accounts.

Pete Boone tried to do this with Cutcliffe. Cutcliffe quit and soon after Boone was fired.

The week before after the kickoff the head ref went over the ball before first play and did the “palm up right arm triple pump motion” meant to re/start the play clock. That was at home, refs did not do this on the road. Just the difference of what I imagine was either the way the crew handles the game.
