It sounds like an unexpected commitment that even caught the Nebraska coaches by surprise although the staff had been pursuing him hard. Guess you just don't turn down someone like that.

I'm not worried that we'll have too many RBs. Remember two of the guys are seniors this fall, Tre's comeback is still an unknown (seemingly healthy but how durable will he be when the season actually gets underway?) and Washington's qualification status is touch and go.

And this kid (if he actually stays committed through signing day) also could play multiple positions if need be. The challenge though will be to fend off the $EC bagmen with all the cash at their disposal throughout the season. They'll be coming at him with all their inducements for sure if he has a great senior season.

Thompkins made this decision without seeing the campus. He will make his first visit to Nebraska next weekend for the second Friday Night Lights camp of the summer.

Watson said things started heating up between Nebraska and Thompkins about a month ago. Watson traveled to Nebraska two years ago and loved it. The Huskers have a very positive image inside Grayson’s walls.

Just so you know, Kenyatta Watson is not a coach at Grayson, at one time he was a volunteer coach there and was sent away because of complaints by other high school coaches of him recruiting their best players to Grayson and the GHSA to to snooping around. He is basically a street agent and mouth piece of kids now. That doesn't take anything away from any of the kids, but he isn't a coach at Grayson.
