For those here in this thread who mentioned Greg's motivations, I would say that this is more of a desirable job than you'd think. The expectations here, at least right now, are pretty low. This isn't Michigan or OSU where the expectation is that the new guy comes in and wins a conference championship first year and competes for a national championship. Here, the expectations are -- "just trend upward" (and from how low-down we are now, that could mean just a couple of wins in Year 1 and maybe a couple more by Years 2 and 3).
Also, it didn't help our cause (but certainly would help us attract a coach) when Hobbs tipped his hand and said that he'd be willing to pay the big bucks to bring in the next coach.
I would say that both of those things would seem pretty desirable to most coaches. Why the AD didn't interview more candidates (or, have more candidates to interview) seems pretty bizarre to me.
