Just text me that the BOG is inclined to accept Schiano’s terms. At this time my source is saying that only Schiano not wanting the job will derail this from happening. The BOG could meet as early as Monday in emergency session to approve the contract.

Thanks for sharing... based on what others have said, Greg seems to be interested in the job (especially if there is a commitment to investing in the program). Let's hope that in a few days we are reading good news that it's done.

They probably can structure the deal where Schiano will be paid more and more investments will be made once we receive a bigger share of B10 revenues in 2027.

Sounds like your source is closer to Schiano's agent than to the RU administration. If Schiano didn't want the job, he wouldn't have pursued it at all.

Multiple people on here said announcement last Monday (you know who you are) people at the RAC last night said today(you know who you are) I am calling you all frauds. No credibility with me anymore. I'll just wait till its announced. SMFH.

I was surprised he expressed any interest in the first place as I think that, if he really wants to be a CFB HC again, this is the wrong job for him to take at the moment. His career cannot withstand another non-success.

I suppose it's possible he was willing to hear out Hobbs and whomever about the job without having a serious interest in it. They went to him, not the other way around. Maybe he isn't all that interested in coaching again, or wants a safer job to start.

I just think he's the sort of person that knows what he wants and wouldn't have bothered with the meeting at all if he wasn't interested in the job.

It does if you think about the job any HC would be taking on.

RU was the most successful stop in his career. Does he want to take the very realistic chance of tarnishing that? Does he think he still has the drive to rebuild a program?

I'm not saying he won't take the job but don't think it's a certainty either.

well its not quite that simple. we don't need ANY OLD concrete and steel barn.. we need a (near) best in class facility to use to recruit. And constructing anything here cost way more than some places... example.. Giants and Cowboys stadiums for comparisons.. similar budgets... one is great.. the other.. not.

I pay for my source and my source is right in the thick of it. You all can have my source too or just stay on the bottom feeder board and wait for scraps LoL.

If Greg backs out after asking and getting what he wants/needs at RU, he’ll never sniff another Power 5 head coaching opportunity again in his life.

IMHO he wants the opportunity as long as he gets what he needs to contend for a conference and/or national championship at some point in time because that’s the goal he’s going to sell to the University, RU players, recruits, alums, New Jerseyans and the State of Rutgers. Rutgers wants to play with the big boys.

I don't think he's the type of person that is going to waste everyones time with these negotiations and then screw RU over by walking away at the very end after all demands were met. According to his recent interviews he still loves RU I can't see why he would do that and have all the fans that still love him wind up hating him.

True. Over the years, the hit rate of people's sources has been low enough, and the information from those sources has typically been highly generalized. So even when there are successes, it's impossible to prove they weren't just guesses that turned out true. Which isn't exactly hard to do when the possibilities are already quite limited so the odds of guessing right are fairly high.

Greg's interested or not interested. 50% odds of guessing right. RU BOG is interested or is not. 50% odds of guessing right.

So somebody starts a rumor, it spreads, next thing you know it's hard information from a reliable source.

I can’t see RU agreeing with his terms and providing a contract that addresses his issues and then he walks away. He just did that with the patriots. If he does this to us within a year after backing away from the patriots he will have a real bad reputation developing that says he can’t be trusted. If RU meets his demands and offers a contract he will accept. Refusing the offer at the last minute would really destroy his credibility.

Assuming KH isn't just teasing everyone, then RU could be announcing something entirely unrelated to football. He never said it was an announcement specific to the football head-coaching job.

I don't necessarily believe the posters who share information are "wrong". I do believe most folks (and their sources) have little idea how a Board of this size works and the process needed to go thru to get to the "finish line". I believe the information shared is likely pretty good, but the timelines are off due to not understanding process.

Just my $0.02.

2:30 announcement that there is a pending announcement to the beginning of a BOG meeting where a timeline for a new announcement will be made.

Or, once he produces he can renegotiate the contract like every other coach in every other sport ever.

For those here in this thread who mentioned Greg's motivations, I would say that this is more of a desirable job than you'd think. The expectations here, at least right now, are pretty low. This isn't Michigan or OSU where the expectation is that the new guy comes in and wins a conference championship first year and competes for a national championship. Here, the expectations are -- "just trend upward" (and from how low-down we are now, that could mean just a couple of wins in Year 1 and maybe a couple more by Years 2 and 3).

Also, it didn't help our cause (but certainly would help us attract a coach) when Hobbs tipped his hand and said that he'd be willing to pay the big bucks to bring in the next coach.

I would say that both of those things would seem pretty desirable to most coaches. Why the AD didn't interview more candidates (or, have more candidates to interview) seems pretty bizarre to me.

Assuming all was agreed to in principal yesterday, the lawyers have been working from late yesterday to today to button up the language to present to the BOG today or Monday.
