Just so many out there, why not...

I just don't understand anyone that says no to a Schiano hire carte blanch
I just don't understand anyone that says he is the ONLY hire and he has to be hired right now, Hobbs must be fired for not having him hired already,

My first point. 2/3/4 years ago- That was me- No way- loved what he did for us but we can do better and time to move beyond his ceiling. But right now, We have been dragged down to depths that none of us could have imagined even just 2 years ago.For what we will pay and how far we have fallen, his name and floor(not ceiling) has become more important. Yes, if we can get someone else that is at his level or better for the same money- let's do it but to say absolute no without knowing his replacement, is just silly.

Second and maybe more important point. Hire him now, why havent we hired him now, Hobbs must be fired because he hasn't hired him already, Hobbs is an idiot to hire a search firm, Hobbs is dumb for interviewing others or even considering others. Hire Greg now now now...

Take a breath...exactly where is Greg going?

Let Hobbs do his job. He screwed this up big time the first time around. And if Greg is available today, he will still be available in a month or two.

Finally- While there may be one or two posters who are still butthurt because GS left for the NFL in 2012 - The rest of group number One- No Schiano...Still love him for what he did here first time around(even if they feel he didn't finish the job) and wish the man no ill will and most would even support the school if they ever wanted to honor him in some way.

I didn't read a single word of your post.

Me and the rest of the cult are planing to march up to Hobbs with our pitchforks and demand to know why he hasn't hired Schiano already, ENOUGH ALREADY! It has been 4 months since ASH was FIRED and we haven't seen one helicopter land on a HS football field! Unless is is planning on hiring Michael Myers or Mick Sabad, SCHIANO is the only REAL choice!

LETS GO!!!!!!!

My feeling is, unless they really think someone out there can be had, but not until after the Bowl season, then fine wait. If it's going to be Greg, then it needs to happen NOW, so he can hit the ground running for recruiting purposes. We've already lost so many recruits to P5 and sadly non P5 schools!!!!

In retrospect, Hobbs made a poor hire. The fact that they share an agent doesn't help with the optics.
However if you look at the body of work of Urban's co-ordinators that went on to be a Head Coach it is pretty impressive.
If Hobbs hires Greg and it doesn't work out it would not look good at all. Even so, Greg is probably the most safe hire. He would most likely be able to keep Nunzio and probably lure Anthony to the banks. That would make for a pretty good recruiting team.

Greg most likely would keep Nunzio? Is that a joke?

I guess your point is that Greg will be more successful with Nunzio on the staff? Recruiting is our biggest problem yet Nunzio is doing a bang up job bringing players into the program?

Or will Nunzio be Greg’s OC as well?

Nunzio is actually the TE coach, he was never suppose to be the OC or HC

If Greg is the best choice after the coach meat market officially opens, hire him if an agreement can be made.
If there are better candidates , interview them and offer the job to the one thought to be the one that would be the best gamble and hope he accepts.

But we all should realize some in the head coaching job meat market might not think of the RU HC position as highly as we do and turn down any offer Hobbs extends them.
Just because Rutgers is a P-5 school, doesn't mean every one looking for a P-5 HC position will
consider Rutgers a good choice and a place that will spend what it takes to achieve success .

I generally agree with everything you said and have posted as much, with the exception below.

I do think this is an important element. We've been through the "wait until after the bowls or until January" thing with Ash and Shea and that got both of those guys off to bad starts in NJ, especially. If our eventual target is a seriously good coach (i.e., way better than Shea or Ash and better than Schiano), who wants to coach his bowl game, I could live with it, but to me that's only a few coaches out there. The vast majority of names I've seen on various lists are not better for RU, at this time, than Schiano, so unless Hobbs is pursuing a top level coach, I'm in the "hire Greg now or at least soon camp (i.e., by the end of the season at the latest)." If it's going to end up being Schiano, hiring him sooner rather than later is better for Greg and the program.

Pitch Forks must always be accompanied by Tar and Feathers or their use is considered illegal.

Completely understand and agree. But, it is only IFvHobbs knows Greg is the guy he wants as his number one choice. If Hobbs has a different target who he can’t really officially talk to yet or hasn’t had the chance to yet, then we should wait. Even if it takes until after a bowl, the hire is much more important than any incoming class.
And as I said, if Greg wants it, he really doesn’t have any other P5s knocking down his door...

To my knowledge, there is NO ONE who is saying no to Schiano, period. That is fake news. Everyone is either saying hire him NOW, or saying, do a full search, interview multiple candidates, and if Greg is the best, so be it.

You need your own thread? Hobbs had his shot. Let him run what he can run and let Schiano run FB.

And the rest....

How many Schiano threads do we need?
Well, since I have rinse and repeated the same thing in each of them and every single thread about Greg ends up 3 people on each side screaming Fire Hobbs Schiano needs to be here now and the he is just .500 and never won a weak BE...
I figured I could take away both of those two tiny groups off the start and have a real conversation. And there has been some good convo so far as long as I don’t have to keep explaining myself...

My choice would be Butch Jones. I really liked Schiano, but he never got us to the promised land in the Big East/AAC. What makes everyone think he can do it in the B1G. Butch was successful in the SEC while at Tennessee. That alone makes me want him. Has RU ties, and recruits his *** off.

Schiano is a different coach today and he has a hell of a lot more to work with now! He is the best choice for us.

Good post. Hobbs needs to conduct a full search. It's his job. If that road leads to Schiano, great. If that road leads somewhere else, great.

If Hobbs just hired Schiano willy nilly, he would be absconding his job duties.

Keep to the process, Pat.
